This might blow your mind…

My name is [name_m]Ice[/name_m]. My surname is [name_m]White[/name_m].

And my family has a tradition to name children in a way that matches the surname. [name_m]Hence[/name_m] mine; although another branch of the family just has [name_m]Irish[/name_m] names…

I continued the family tradition by naming my daughter [name_f]Luna[/name_f].

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m], which means [name_m]White[/name_m] [name_m]Light[/name_m] Of [name_m]The[/name_m] [name_f]Moon[/name_f].

I have a list of baby names for the future, and if anything, it just encourages me to have as many babies as possible because some of them are just too good of an opportunity not to.

Fun fact… Some of our names can be written only with emojis…

This is my list of baby names for the future. Some of them are just dumb (Like [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], I guess, since that just means [name_m]White[/name_m] anyway in Italian), but I listed them anyway just to map out more ideas.

And a little more context… My wife is Peruvian, so some of these names are in Spanish or work in both [name_f]English[/name_f] and Spanish (Like [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Aura[/name_f], [name_f]Cristal[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_m]Angel[/name_m], etc). I am Canadian. Some of these are Canadian themed (Nova), and my ancestry is [name_m]Irish[/name_m], Nordic and Siberian (Snow, [name_m]Bear[/name_m], etc).

This is a family tradition. [name_m]The[/name_m] emojis are just pasted from my notes. [name_m]The[/name_m] emojis don’t matter. They are just to help understand meanings between languages.

There were some people commenting saying that ‘made up names’ are bad. But little did they realize… All names are made up.

My aim here is to follow the family tradition. Something with MEANING. Something unique. Something that might even match the surname well.

Don’t comment any hate. Reddit already did that.

it’s a little unclear to me how “matched” the name needs to be to the surname to be considered following the trend. [name_m]Ice[/name_m] and [name_m]White[/name_m] feel quite connected, but [name_f]Luna[/name_f] I think is much more subtle. and some of your options feel very tied to “white” while others are more like nouns which have a variety of white, rather than itself being a white thing? if that makes sense? for example, [name_m]Frost[/name_m] is definitely white, but [name_f]Rose[/name_f], while roses can be white, is much more tied to red or pink.

with that in mind, these are my favorites:

I think in terms of style [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_f]Rain[/name_f], and [name_f]Aura[/name_f] match the vibe of [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and work with the tradition. For boys, [name_m]Wolf[/name_m], [name_m]Bear[/name_m], and [name_m]River[/name_m].

I find this quite fun! I know people with fun family traditions and i think it’s totally okay to be a little bold with it, i’ve never seen anyone made fun of for it. i know people named [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] III, people with middle name [name_m]Danger[/name_m]

My first thought was [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m] because of Eira’s wintery meaning.

Another name meaning fair/white is [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], or [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], which I think would be very elegant with the surname [name_m]White[/name_m]. Also [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Elwen[/name_f], and [name_f]Jenna[/name_f]! A lot of Welsh, [name_m]Irish[/name_m], and Scottish names.

Otherwise you have names from other parts of the world that would probably work better with spanish-Alba, [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], [name_f]Blanca[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], [name_f]Luz[/name_f], [name_f]Pilar[/name_f] (I think “white pillar” is pretty cool), [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] (white emerald), [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] (white dove).

I think Perla is my favourite and the most fitting from your list! Luna and Perla also sound great together.

I actually love the name Snow but I think the Snow White connotation isn’t great. However Nieve with the nickname Snow could work.

Nova and Aura are also cool and on theme.

For a boy I think Wolf is the clear winner for me. Followed closely by Bear and Sky.

Let’s see if I can think of any more…

My favourite from your list is probably [name_f]Aura[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m]. It sounds pretty, works in [name_f]English[/name_f] and Spanish, and it has that soft glowing meaning without feeling too obvious. I also love [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m], [name_f]Perla[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m], [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m], and [name_f]Nieve[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m].

I’d probably avoid [name_f]Snow[/name_f] [name_m]White[/name_m], just because the fairy tale association is so strong, and names like [name_m]Ghost[/name_m] [name_m]White[/name_m] or Shark [name_m]White[/name_m] feel more like cool character names than everyday baby names.
