Family Tree Names

I don’t know if anyone is interested, but I was doing a bit of research into the Australian / English / Scottish / Welsh/ Irish part of my family tree, and I found some lovely, some interesting names, just thought I would share (I haven’t listed last names, only first and middles):

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] (my great grandma- to cut a long story short, everyone thought she was born in [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Italy[/name_f], and had a lot of Italian in her. Wrong [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f], as it turns out- she still looks more Italian than the right [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] though. We still have a lot of Italian, but not from this particular part of the family).

Anyway, if anyone is interested, there you go :). Does anyone have any interesting names in their own family tree: I am somewhat intrigued by Benedictine.

re: [name_u]Harlee[/name_u] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]. Were they poor farmers? The 30s were kind of a weird time for names in [name_u]America[/name_u]. If you didn’t have a top 10 name, you probably had some off the wall double name. I’ve got a [name_u]Harlee[/name_u] too, but he was a he.

[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] and Kemlo especially are interesting finds.

It was in Australia, but it was in a rural area- [name_u]Harlee[/name_u] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]'s grandfather emigrated from [name_f]England[/name_f] and set up a general store during the gold rush, which provided quite an income, if the sources are to be believed. Her brothers were [name_m]Ross[/name_m] and [name_m]Donald[/name_m], so [name_u]Harlee[/name_u] did surprise me a bit (her mother was [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]). It was a different world then though- [name_m]Donald[/name_m] wouldn’t have been considered a ‘vintage’ name, so I have to keep that in perspective. I think that you are certainly right about the top 10 name thing.

[name_m]Ah[/name_m], yeah, Australians are very offbeat. Who knows? :stuck_out_tongue:

Very cool! I enjoyed reading these

These are great!
There are a lot of what I would consider to be the “classics” in my family tree… [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u],[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_u]Michael[/name_u] repeat quite often on my paternal side. A few standouts are [name_m]Horace[/name_m] [name_m]Abner[/name_m], [name_m]Saunders[/name_m], [name_u]Maurice[/name_u], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (though some sources say she was actually [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]), and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f].
