Farren

[name]Hi[/name] Berries,

I wanted to know how you felt about the name [name]Farren[/name] for a girl. I heard this name on a little girl a little while back and has stuck with me for a while although I didn’t put it down permanently on my name list thinking I’d get over it. A character from The [name]Legend[/name] of [name]Zelda[/name] also has this name. I think it’s a great alternative to [name]Karen[/name] or [name]Farrah[/name].

What kind of image comes to mind when you hear the name [name]Farren[/name]? What are your thoughts? Yay or Nay?

Thanks!

Nay, it is very masculine to me. The image I get in my head is a mischievous little boy. I think [name]Farrah[/name] is still beautiful and feminine, no need to change it.

Makes me think of the old country singer [name]Farren[/name] [name]Young[/name] who was a guy, Im young and not into country music but I still make the association.

I don’t have any other association with this name other than I once used it for a male character in a short story I wrote. I spelled it [name]Faron[/name] though. I think [name]Farrah[/name] is beautiful and think this name sounds boyish.

I think it’s awesome!! I am partial to names ending in the “en” sound, I’ve noticed. I really like [name]Farren[/name]- unique, cool, easy to understand.

Um… how to say this… a litter of baby pigs is called a “farrow” and the birthing process is called “farrowing.” I come from an agricultural background and I am afraid that [name]Farren[/name] would have me wondering if it was some kind of farrowing barn or something. [name]Farrah[/name] also sounds similar to farrow but at least has some redemption in being well known and famous enough to stand on her own. Also, I think [name]Farren[/name] would be confused for [name]Aaron[/name]/[name]Erin[/name]. Nay from me.

The only [name]Farren[/name] I’ve ever met was a girl, so this name reads as “likely feminine” to me. That said, there’s a lot of gender ambiguity with [name]Farren[/name], so you’d have to decide if that bothers you. I’m not usually a fan of unisex-sounding names, but I think this one has a striking, light, almost breezy quality to it–I also like the “fair” sound.

I like [name]Farren[/name] and although it’s probably used more for boys, I do think it works for a girl. [name]Farren[/name] has a soft and ethereal quality about it so I personally find it more suited for a female. The only issue may be that the name - although pretty rare - will blend in with all of the other names that end in a similar way (eg. en, in, an, in or yn).

I replied to this earlier but my posts aren’t showing up. Anyways, thanks everyone for your input and feedback! Always love to hear what everyone has to say.

I was first attracted to the name [name]Farren[/name] because it had an ethereal feel to the name and it did not strike me as a weird or uncommon name. It reminds me much of [name]Karen[/name] and [name]Lauren[/name]…maybe because of the “ren” ending, which rounds the the name off to a softer touch. I am aware the name is used for boys and is meant to be strong and masculine.

I wanted to gage how widely used the name is or how widely heard on people.

Thanks again!

I actually really like this… very pretty!

Thanks!
