Lately I started to become interested in virtuous names such as faith, hope, and joy. That’s when I thought of the name [name_m]Fate[/name_m], for a girl. I think it is beautiful and simple and am completely in [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] with it. But I’m just wondering if it is a possible name (which I don’t see why not when there are so many other more-so weird and ‘adventurous’ names, in my opinion).
Also I was wondering what spelling you preferred: [name_m]Fate[/name_m], Faight, or Faite? (Faight-spelled this way- I actually saw in a short film a while back) Personally I prefer [name_m]Fate[/name_m] as it is.
Thank you Berries
I kinda like it…I think it would be a super cool middle name! I like it spelled [name_m]Fate[/name_m]. I think it’s similar enough to [name_f]Faith[/name_f] to be usable.
You don’t know what kind of person she’ll be. I’d hate being named [name_m]Fate[/name_m], [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], etc because I’m a skeptic, you know? That’s just obnoxious.
I really like it !! I definitly prefer the spelling [name_m]Fate[/name_m] ! I think it would make a stunning middle name , in the lines of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_m]Fate[/name_m] or something . It would sound like a writer 's name .
I’d stick with [name_f]Faith[/name_f], but I personally hate virtue names. I met a plenty of girls with virtue names and all of them had been brats, none lived up to their names…
To me, [name_m]Fate[/name_m] is more word name than virtue. Although it’s easier to live up to [name_m]Fate[/name_m] than [name_f]Patience[/name_f] or [name_f]Remember[/name_f], if [name_m]Fate[/name_m] ends up in a bad situation (such as prison), it might be very ironic.
I’d use it as a middle. Or, it could be a nickname for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], though it would be a stretch.
P.S. Spelling wise, use [name_m]Fate[/name_m]. [name_m]Fate[/name_m] would be misspelled or misheard as [name_f]Faith[/name_f] more often than not, so using the correct spelling would make it a tad easier.
I like it… [name_m]Fate[/name_m] is really cool short and sweet
I prefer the [name_m]Fate[/name_m] spelling. But I like [name_f]Kismet[/name_f] even more! You could use nn [name_f]Kizzy[/name_f] or [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]
[name_m]Fate[/name_m] is cute, but I think people would think you said “[name_f]Faith[/name_f]” since it’s more common. Same thing might happen even if you used it as a middle name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion.
[name_f]Virtue[/name_f] names always have positive connotations ([name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Charity[/name_f], you get the point), but to me [name_m]Fate[/name_m] has a distinctly negative vibe.
If you do use it, I would definitely choose the regular [name_m]Fate[/name_m] spelling. I’m not at all a fan of Faight or Faite.
Sorry I don’t like it at all
I tend to like word names in the middle spot, where the child can choose whether or not they want to use it.
That being said I think it is a pretty, very unique name!
Its really neat actually! And the nickname can be [name_f]Fae[/name_f]/[name_f]Fay[/name_f]. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. Besides if people accept [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], why not [name_m]Fate[/name_m]?
Another name that’s similar to that is [name_u]Fable[/name_u], which is a name I absolutely adore, sound and meaning. Plus I like the games. lol
[name_m]Fate[/name_m] made me think of [name_u]Fable[/name_u] right away!
I really don’t like it.
I don’t think it has a nice sound, I think it will get confused with ‘[name_f]Faith[/name_f]’, and I also feel that [name_m]Fate[/name_m] has vaguely negative connotations.
Objectively, I love the idea of [name_m]Fate[/name_m] as a name, and think it’s simplicity could work well as a name.
However, not to be a downer, but I personally would be worried about a child with this name being labelled with the nickname Fat-e (i.e. Fatty) if they were a little overweight. For this reason I would probably stick to it as a middle name, because I wouldn’t re-spell it as Faight or Fayte or anything else as they don’t have the same simple, elegant look and feel as [name_m]Fate[/name_m] does.
If it’s the meaning that is important to you and you want a first name, have you considered other names with a similar meaning, such as [name_f]Dharma[/name_f], [name_f]Karma[/name_f], [name_f]Kismet[/name_f] or even [name_f]Coral[/name_f]?
Ditto.
[name_m]Fate[/name_m] has a more negative quality than [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], etc. If you must use it, please use it as a middle name. Also, use the correct spelling.
