Favorite Anne of Green Gables Male Names?

I just posted on the female thread as well, realizing how many names I fell in love with because of my lifelong passion for the [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables books.

Off the top of my head, I really love the name [name_m]Harmon[/name_m], have a silly fondness for both [name_m]Moody[/name_m] and [name_m]Spurgeon[/name_m], find [name_m]Fred[/name_m] solid and satisfying, and still have a crush on [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m], though I would be more apt to name a son [name_m]Robert[/name_m] (family name) or [name_m]Herbert[/name_m] (which I find very cute).

Any thoughts?

a few of my favorites:

[name_u]Lennox[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]

Maybe it’s time to reread - a few of these I don’t remember. I was reminded by this though how very much I love love love [name_u]Lennox[/name_u]!

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Lennox[/name_u]!

It is rare that I see [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] on NB. Surprising. It’s such a cool, handsome name. It’s on my long list but it’s more like a QP.

I know. To me, it is very male and Scottish and classy and old-fashioned yet modern sounding too. Sometimes I think great names get derailed by nickname fears – [name_m]Len[/name_m] or [name_m]Ox[/name_m], though so many go by their full names now that it should not be a deal-breaker.

I agree. I am not a nicknamer. Actually most of my family (this generation, lots of nicknames earlier) and friends are not either. There have only been a few times where someone tried calling someone by a nickname. They politely told the person that wasn’t their name. I honestly don’t understand the people that talk about names will be shortened. I cannot imagine people thinking it is okay to just call someone by some other name without permission. Hasn’t happened around me.

I do love [name_m]Cuthbert[/name_m], though cannot ever imagine naming a person this. To me, it is cozy and tidy sounding. Maybe a cozy and tidy cat? I am also fond of [name_m]Halifax[/name_m], nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m] or [name_m]Hale[/name_m]. And also [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and bizarrely, [name_m]Milty[/name_m].

I forgot [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] which I find icky on a girl (snooty), but on a guy, I kinda like.

I’ve always loved [name_u]James[/name_u] nicknamed [name_u]Jem[/name_u], or just [name_u]Jem[/name_u].

Yes, a double whammy of loving [name_u]Jem[/name_u], from both [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and Mockingbird.

[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]! [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] is a fantastic name as well!

I fell in love with the name [name_m]Davy[/name_m] … Not as a full name but as a nickname, the character was just so spirited and lovable. I’d definitely use it as a nickname for [name_m]Davis[/name_m] (though that isn’t his name in the book). Jonas lead me to my love of Jonah, as well. Also, I agree with everyone about [name_u]James[/name_u] nn [name_u]Jem[/name_u].

Added this after: WALTER. How could I forget him? He was one of my favourites. I love the name but hate the possible nicknames for it (like Wally).
