I’m curious to hear what everyone’s favorite names are for girls that are traditionally for boys! I’m loving the recent popularity of boys names on girls and have noticed that more and more names are being used for girls! I’ve heard the more common ones like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_f]Charli[/name_f], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], etc. but what are some of your favorites?
Here are some “boy names” that’s I’ve either never heard or rarely hear for girls but I think could lend themselves well to a more feminine energy!
[name_u]Miller[/name_u]
[name_m]Ross[/name_m]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_u]James[/name_u] (this one is getting popular!)
[name_u]Wyatt[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_u]Declan[/name_u]
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_u]Tyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Perry[/name_u]
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
I love boyish nicknames on girls-especially with a more vintage, longer full name:
Francesca–>Frankie
Stefania–> Stevie
Mabel/Sybil–>Billie
Roberta–>Bobbie
Antonia–>Toni
Augusta–>Gussie
Charlotte—>Charlie
etc…
And for whatever reason I love Drew on a girl. No idea why but she’s adorable to me!
Also Pepper which I guess is more neutral:
Ginger too!:
In general, I prefer more feminine names on boys then Masculine names on girls, but the above names I really do like a lot!
I know girls named [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_u]Merritt[/name_u], [name_u]Tyler[/name_u], and [name_u]Wesley[/name_u]!
This isn’t typically my style, but I do like [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]Wilder[/name_u], [name_u]Julian[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], and [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] on girls.
From your list, my favorites would be [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]. I know a girl named [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] and it fits perfectly. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_u]Avery[/name_u]. Some recent additions I’ve heard for girls that are normally used for boys are [name_u]Tate[/name_u], [name_u]Cairo[/name_u], [name_u]Noa[/name_u] or [name_u]Koa[/name_u], [name_u]Finnegan[/name_u], [name_u]Huxley[/name_u], [name_m]Westyn[/name_m], [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_m]Indio[/name_m]. I’m not a fan of all of these names, especially [name_u]Huxley[/name_u] on a girl but these are just a few I’ve heard recently. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite classic name that has a normally male given nickname is [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] with the nickname [name_u]Jo[/name_u].
Some that I definitely like on a girl, but I still prefer on boys:
Charlie
Riley
Sawyer
Cameron
I also used to love Ellis in a girl, but that love has gone down some, probably because we’re probably going to use it for the baby boy I’m pregnant with haha!
Agreed! US gymnast Shawn Johnson and her husband Andrew East were going to name their first child Drew (after the dad), no matter the sex of the baby. I was so glad they had a girl because Drew is a name I only like in girls for some reason Plus, since the Shawn has a masculine name, I think Drew kind of honors both the dad (Andrew) and the mom at the same time. Drew feels dated on boys to me, but it sounds cute and fresh on girls. Which is a little funny since I assume most of the uptick in Drew for girls is because of Drew Barrymore, so I’m surprised it doesn’t feel dated on a girl too since she’s getting close to 50 yo!

[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
Cammeron/Cameron
[name_u]Alex[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] (it’s used a lot for boys, but I could see it on a girl)
[name_u]Griffin[/name_u]
[name_m]Griffith[/name_m] (I keep going back and forth on this one)
[name_u]Tommy[/name_u]
Bobbi/Bobbie/Bobby
[name_u]Stevie[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] (Could work for a girl)
