[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is very overused [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is less expected.

I can’t decide! Lol. I’m [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and my sister is [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]

Both [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] are far too popular. [name_m]Hence[/name_m] why I opted for the slightly different [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. For nicknames, I like [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Emme[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] or [name_f]Emily[/name_f].

But which one do you actually like better as a name, not based on popularity? Often people vote by just choosing the one less popular. I wanted voting done by which one is actually most liked. I’ve actually only known/met 1 [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], 0 Emilias (1 [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]).

 Great sibling set!

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mila[/name_f] would be my favorite. Also like [name_f]Emi[/name_f]. I like the sound of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and I love the nn [name_f]Livvy[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].

Tough call, I love both a lot! I think I’d go [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] though because, and it’s probably just me who feels this way but, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] might be becoming a little bit dated (even though it’s the no.1 name in a lot of places haha). As a side note, [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] trumps the [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] spelling easy.

I have loved [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] since joining this site, and reading [name_m]Othello[/name_m]. She takes [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emily[/name_f], two classic and very American feeling names, and manages to look and sound exotic to me. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is easy for me to say, rolls right off the tongue, and is interesting without being too far out there.

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is kind of mehh for me. I was a fan for a brief while due to being a Victorian era family name, but I’ve come to find the sound a little harsh. The V sound comes off as clunky to me and I think there are better names within the style.

Both lovely names! I voted [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] - because its not as popular, as [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], its a beautiful classy name and gives lots of gorgeous nicknames. I’m also bias as I have an [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. I particularly like the nn [name_f]Emi[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmie[/name_f].

Thank you so much for the detailed opinions. They are very helpful and very appreciated. I’ve adored [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for years, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] more recently. I go back and fourth over which I prefer over the other.

I prefer [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. The v just provides something special.

I like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] better, personally, but I do love [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Amelia[/name_f], too! Although these days I lean more toward [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]–it’s a family name I’ve really grown to love!

Both are lovely, I personally prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]'s sound and associations.

I like the nns from [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] better.

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is the one I like better. It is somehow softer. My favorite nicknames for [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] are [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f], but [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] is cute too.
For [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] I like [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivi[/name_f].

I love them both so it’s difficult, but I voted [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] for some reason. I actually have nieces called [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].

Although saying that I think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] would be adorable

These names are on my mind as well! Where I am in Europe they aren’t as popular (yet…). [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] even feels a little archaic to me at times… an older name that isn’t much in favor at the moment where I live although I can imagine it getting more popular in some years perhaps. I can’t really decide which one I like better: [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] feels spunkier and livelier to me, [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is a bit softer and meeker. I love [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for her nickname potential however - [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f]… Some of those nicknames carry sentimental ties to family members for me as well so I think I’d choose [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] as a name over [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] even if I prefer [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] in full! [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] nicknames I like are Oli, [name_f]Livvy[/name_f], [name_f]Liva[/name_f], but I don’t like them as much as I like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]'s nicknames.

Thank you all so very much!

I adore so many nicknames for [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. Many with the spunk I love. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] feels comfortable. I adore [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] and Vie, but they seem a bit more buttoned-up compared to the nicknames for [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. Although I’m pretty sure the combos would be [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and she would be nicknamed [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] either way. My dad called my mom (we lost her a few years ago) [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]. Both names honor and are special.

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]! [name_m]Way[/name_m] better than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] imo and I think it’s better without a nickname but [name_f]Emme[/name_f] could work. If I was [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] I would only want to be called [name_f]Liv[/name_f].
