I like other literary names as well (Peter, [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_u]Henry[/name_u], etc.), but the specific book connection warmed me to the names above.

One of the main reasons i like these names are because i love these characters

Hareton (from Wuthering Heights -love the unusual sound and vibe)

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] (Henry Clerval from Frankenstein- it’s gentle and strong at the same time )

[name_m]Ozias[/name_m] (Ozias Midwinter from Armadale. I love the sharp sounds and nickname Ozzie)

[name_u]Ezra[/name_u] (Ezra [name_m]Jennings[/name_m] -from The Moonstone. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the soft, gentle, but sparky sound)

[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] (The Chronicles of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] - love the ocean connection, the book connection, the gentle but adventuorus vibe)

[name_m]Sholto[/name_m] (It kind of counts-there’s a very, very minor character in [name_u]North[/name_u] and [name_u]South[/name_u] called [name_m]Sholto[/name_m] and it’s where i found the name -it’s so interesting and distinct)

[name_m]Alec[/name_m] (Alec Scudder from [name_u]Maurice[/name_u]- I like how it feels familiar yet different)

[name_m]Horatio[/name_m] (from [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m] -cool, gentle and charming)

[name_u]George[/name_u] (George [name_m]Milton[/name_m] from Of Mice and Men. [name_u]George[/name_u] is a warm, strong and charming name -used it on my guinea pig)

[name_m]Linus[/name_m] (Linus [name_m]Barker[/name_m] from The House in the cerulean sea - distinct and sharp)

I don’t read much classic literature, but here are names I love from books I’ve read!

[name_m]Uriah[/name_m] - Divergent: this sounds so soft but feels so strong
Candor - Divergent: (not actually the name of a character but of one of the factions) I thought it made a nice virtue name
[name_u]Rune[/name_u] - A [name_u]Man[/name_u] Called Ove: solid and mystical, it’s the stone but also the mist

Off the top of my head:

[name_m]Bastian[/name_m]: The Neverending [name_u]Story[/name_u]

a mix of classic & modern lit:

Haroun - Haroun and the Sea of Stories
Gatsby - The Great Gatsby

Aristotle - Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Gawain - Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Erik - The Phantom of the Opera
Dorian, Kaltain - Throne of Glass

my favorite boys’ name, milo, is because of the phantom tollbooth – it’s one of the main books from my childhood that i absolutely adore.

Don’t necessarily love or even like all of these characters, but these books are a part of the reason why I either discovered and/or came to love these names. Some of these are also just GP’s.

But here goes:

  • The Picture of [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]— [name_u]Basil[/name_u], [name_u]Dorian[/name_u]

  • The [name_f]Secret[/name_f] Garden— [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_m]Archie[/name_m]

  • The [name_f]Odyssey[/name_f]— [name_m]Odysseus[/name_m]

  • Wuthering Heights— [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m]

  • [name_m]Black[/name_m] Chalk— [name_m]Jolyon[/name_m] (funnily I actually hate this book, but I quite like this name and discovered it here)

  • Eragon— [name_m]Brom[/name_m], Roran

  • [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings— [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] “Pippin,” [name_m]Aragorn[/name_m]

  • [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]— [name_m]Neville[/name_m], [name_u]Dean[/name_u], [name_u]Percy[/name_u], [name_m]Remus[/name_m]

  • A Series Of Unfortunate Events— [name_m]Klaus[/name_m], [name_m]Monty[/name_m], [name_m]Duncan[/name_m]

  • The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Bride[/name_f]— [name_m]Westley[/name_m], [name_m]Inigo[/name_m]

I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting, and I haven’t even touched on [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m], but I’ll stop there.
