I like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Eponine[/name_f]. [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] is funky but I think it works in the middle. Not sure if kids watch the show [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] anymore, but [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] makes me think of the DW character whose name was [name_f]Dora[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] runs together a bit for me with the two Rs. [name_f]Violaine[/name_f] is nice too, I just find [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] a bit more fun.

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Violaine[/name_f] is definitely my favourite, poised and classy but still very unique and offbeat. Both familiar and fresh. I like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] as well but I feel like it needs a second middle like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f].

Thank you both for your thoughtful responses!

I had totally forgot that DW was [name_f]Dora[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]! Now I can’t stop thinking about it.

I think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] & [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] Xanthippe are pleasantly unexpected and surprisingly fresh. Something about the “z” and “x” sounds give them a more lively and playful feeling that I enjoy

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Violaine[/name_f] and [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] are both gorgeous! I think the combo with [name_f]Violaine[/name_f] is perhaps a little more stylistically cohesive, but [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is such a fabulous feisty name and I love the balance it brings to chic, uber-feminine [name_f]Isadora[/name_f].

I’m also loving [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] (my alma mater, so I’m bound to have a soft spot for this one!), [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], and [name_u]Florentine[/name_u] if you want something unashamedly princessy!

Thank you for your responses.

[name_f]Katinka[/name_f] you always provide a fresh pair of eyes when it comes to names. I hadn’t particularly thought of options like [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] or [name_u]Florentine[/name_u] as princessy but I totally see it now!

[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is one of those names I just adore but always struggle to fit in anywhere. When we were pregnant with [name_m]Archie[/name_m] my partner also ruled it out as a first name pick because he couldn’t hear it without getting the [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] song stuck in his head.
It’s nice to hear someone else thinks it could make a nice middle choice here!

In no particular order I think my top 3 are

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

I seem to be gravitating to the more familiar. [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is knowable but I find it too strongly specific. (Although you are considering it for the middle so if you love it enough I’d say that’s the place to put it.) Some of the other names feel more unusual & difficult and I suppose that is why i’m gravitating to ones with more familiar history.

Another aspect I feel compelled to point out is how [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and her related names connect with the word “violent”. I don’t know if I am potentially ruining a name you’ve liked long-term - so apologies if so - but I feel it should be pointed out because I’ve discovered it is difficult for some, including myself, to go back to a state before we could make that connection. Lots of names can connect with something difficult but I find this is one of the more direct to a strongly negative connotation and thus most difficult to unsee and disconnect from. Which is a shame as [name_f]violet[/name_f] is such a pretty colour… I would suggest at least steering to a version that ends in “a”. Or [name_f]Viola[/name_f].

I will say I first gravitated to [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] because I also liked how the beginning “I” and ending “d” give me visual “bookend” vibes.

I think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is also lovely and spunky paired with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

Anyway that’s my 2 cents.

I know. Lot of people are apprehensive of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] because of the sound, [name_f]Violaine[/name_f] is pronounced vee-o-lane though, so I don’t personally find it all that similar to the word violent.

Thank you for your feedback!

The poll doesn’t close until the 12th, but it looks like there’s a pretty clear winner!

I would recommend going with a name that ties in with family. If [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is a family name, then great! [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] seems Spanish to me and is very beautiful, but the first thing pictured in my head is a beautiful flamenco dancer. I do not think [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] would go with that image unless it was a family name.

None of the names are family names. We have a lot of girls in our family and most family names have already been taken as firsts or middles by cousins.

And you made a great point about some styles clashing a bit, part of the reason [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] was already scratched from the list.

Thank you for your input!

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] is gorgeous!
