Favorite nickname for Francesca?

[name]Francie[/name] is one of my favorite nn’s!

thank you all so much. i love the nn francie! i also really like francie-claire, but DH really wants elizabeth to be her mn, after his mom.

we can’t use giana for complicated reasons!

is isabella and francesca too much of a mouthful?

while on the one hand, i feel like we should use an italian name for consistency, i don’t want everything to be too matchy either. does this make sense?

then again, when i think of naming her charlotte or violet or addison (some other picks of ours) it seems to not fit well.

this is definitely our toughest naming yet! lol!

My favorite nickname for [name]Francesca[/name] (or [name]Frances[/name], really) is [name]Fancy[/name]. I think it would be beyond cute as a nickname for a little girl.

I love [name]Francesca[/name] with your others, including [name]Isabella[/name]. I don’t think it’s too much especially if you like to use nicknames. I personally don’t like [name]Fran[/name], [name]Francie[/name] or [name]Fanny[/name]. I like the suggestions of Cesca, [name]Chessie[/name], and [name]Effie[/name]. [name]Effie[/name] I think is usually a nickname for [name]Elizabeth[/name] (although I’m not sure why as it makes more sense for a name that starts with F to me). But if her middle name is [name]Elizabeth[/name] after her grandmother than that might be a nice tie in too–[name]Effie[/name] short for [name]Francesca[/name] to honor her grandmother. If that’s too much, I think Cesca or [name]Chessie[/name] are natural nicknames and much spunkier and cuter (imo) than [name]Fran[/name] or [name]Francie[/name].

Beautiful choices everyone came up with! I am mother to a [name]Francesca[/name] [name]Alessandra[/name]. When asked what her nickname is, I always reply “[name]Francesca[/name]” because there is no nickname I find acceptable. [name]Franca[/name] might be the closest that I like, or maybe Sessa. I’m not against the use of a nickname, but I figure it will develop naturally as she begins talking or as she enters school.

I think it is a great idea to have siblings’ names that are culturally symmetrical. Same goes with middles. This is more of a big issue, not specific to [name]Francesca[/name]. For example, “[name]Francesca[/name] [name]Jane[/name]” does not work for me, as there is no “J” in Italian. “J” and “K” and “Y” you have to be careful with if cultural symmetry is important to you.

[name]Francesca[/name] is a beautiful name. [name]Chessie[/name] and Chesca are my favorite nicknames, although I once heard of the nickname [name]Chase[/name], which I thought was cute too.

frances, frenchy, franny, fran, fanny, cesca, frankie

What a great name choice! Although I am biased as my name is [name]Francesca[/name]. It is unusual enough to make you feel special, but it is relatively familiar to most people and generally people can pronounce it and spell it.

Inevitably, my name was shortened at school to ‘[name]Fran[/name]’. As an adult I prefer [name]Francesca[/name]. My family have always called me [name]Francesca[/name] or Cesca. I do like Cesca - much nicer than [name]Fran[/name] I think. Not a fan of [name]Frannie[/name] at all.
