Watching Gilmore Girls for the first proper time (I was a child when it was first airing and was more loyal to BTVS/Angel) and I’ve fallen in love with the name Luke! (And fallen in love WITH Luke )
So I ask, if you had to choose a tv character to name your child after, who would it be?
Picture of Mr. Luke Danes for your viewing pleasure because ya girl is in her feels rn
surprisingly, the first thing that came to mind was lorelai from gilmore girls as well!
i also have always like weekday names, but i especially started liking wednesday after the show came out.
I do like the name [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] but I don’t think I’d ever use it. Same for [name_u]Rory[/name_u], though Rory/Ruairi would be quite common here, mainly for boys.
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] is definitely a niche name, but I can see it growing in popularity recently. Between the revamp of the Adam’s Family media, and some celebrities using it, it’s definitely becoming more used
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] 99 made me fall in love with [name_m]Jake[/name_m] as a stand-alone (although I think the character’s full name was Jacob?). The women of Peaky Blinders - [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f] & especially [name_u]Esme[/name_u] - made me love those names, if I named my daughter [name_u]Esme[/name_u] it would be largely inspired by the character; so by tv alone my kids would be [name_m]Jake[/name_m] & [name_u]Esme[/name_u]! I quite like that as a pairing.
Currently [name_u]Robin[/name_u] from BBC Ghosts I also like [name_u]Kitty[/name_u], [name_u]Julian[/name_u], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] from the same show
Not from a show, but I really love [name_f]Elora[/name_f] and [name_u]Willow[/name_u] (b) after watching the 80s movie [name_u]Willow[/name_u]
As I wrack my brain for show names, I’m remembering…
[name_f]Wanda[/name_f] (WandaVision)
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_u]Killian[/name_u] (Once Upon A Time)
…and somehow that’s all I’ve got this morning.
And from the reality TV I’ve watched…
[name_u]Favor[/name_u] (g)
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
That’s the show with the Horrible Histories/Yonderland cast isn’t it? [name_u]Amazing[/name_u] cast, everything they do together is amazing. I’ve been meaning to start Ghosts
Fell in love with CLAIRE! From the Good [name_u]Doctor[/name_u], the most basic name ever. Right now I cannot imagine myself without a little girl called [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
I forgot my crush on the name [name_u]Will[/name_u] started with my crush on [name_u]Will[/name_u] from The Good Wife…
Stealing @readingreverie’s idea & coming up with actual combos, my kids would be [name_u]Esme[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Erin[/name_u] & [name_m]Jake[/name_m] [name_u]William[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] (Peaky Blinders, A Series of Unfortunate Events, [name_m]Derry[/name_m] Girls; [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] 99, The Good Wife, Ghosts)
Ghosts is fantastic, I truly couldn’t recommend it highly enough!
Doctor Who made me fall in love with [name_m]Oswin[/name] (for a girl) and [name_f]Martha[/name], and even more in love with [name_f]Clara[/name]! Warehouse 13 introduced me to my newfound love for [name_f]Claudia[/name], [name_f]Myka[/name] and [name_m]Pete[/name]/[name_m]Peter[/name], as well as putting [name_u]Jinks[/name] on the list of names for future characters Gravity Falls is most definitely responsible for my turnaround opinion of [name_f]Wendy[/name] (I have beef with [name_m]Peter[/name] [name_u]Pan[/name]); and because of the show I now have a soft spot for [name_f]Mabel[/name] (and [name_f]Maple[/name]!) in my heart.
And Supernatural? Don’t even get me started on all of the awesome names on there!
Obviously the best name to be featured in supernatural was [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], after the [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] that came to life and had an existential crisis
I didn’t watch that show very much but I watched that scene multiple times
I love the names [name_f]Temperance[/name_f], [name_m]Booth[/name_m], and [name_m]Seely[/name_m] from the TV show Bones; [name_m]Benton[/name_m] from the show Due South; [name_u]Walter[/name_u] from the show Fringe; [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] and Vaungh from the show ALIAS; lastly Mycroft from the BBC show [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m].
Listen… My daughter’s name is inspired by a tv character… She is not named after a character It’s from Buffy, her name is in my UC.
If I had to name another child and keep with the tv character theme… I would struggle Do I stay with vampire shows? Villain related? Or go in a totally different direction?
I could see myself with a Divina which is my preferred spelling of Davina, inspired from The Originals (The Vampire Diaries spinoff). But I saw the show so long ago, I couldn’t even describe the character, except that she’s a witch… I would have to refresh before deciding!
If I had to come up with actual combos I’d use… Olivia Flora ‘Liv’(Olivia/Liv for multiple different characters, Flora from Winx Club!) Daphne Claire(Daphne from Winx Club, Claire from Modern Family)
Winx Club just has some really amazing names!
Alexander Ezra ‘Alex’ (Alex from Greenhouse Academy and Ezra from The Inbestigators)
These are almost the only boy names I like more because of TV shows so…
I cheated a little bit, because a few of these are from movies.
Salome-I had never heard this name, but it’s the daughter’s name in the movie Ordinary World. At first I thought they were calling her ‘Sally May’, but then realized that it was [name_f]Salome[/name_f] & old fashioned & related to the Hebrew word [name_u]Shalom[/name_u] meaning ‘Peace’, I loved it even more.
Clara-The main lady in Back to the [name_u]Future[/name_u] Three (I love everything Back to the Future!). I love the time period of the movie & she’s smart & charming.
Sadie-This is the main lady 11.22.63, which is basically a TV show; a mini series. It takes place in the early 60s, which I love. I used to like the name [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], but found it too childish. But after seeing the show, it was so sweet on a smart grown woman (with awesome 1960s clothes), it made me like the name more in general.
Gwendolen-This is from The [name_u]Wonder[/name_u] Years of course; and more than [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] (I think her name is actually spelled Gwendolyn), I love love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. So so sweet. And The [name_u]Wonder[/name_u] Years is just one of the best shows ever made.
Solly-My great grandmother was [name_u]Sol[/name_u], & I’ve always liked the idea of using [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] nn [name_u]Sol[/name_u], because [name_u]Sol[/name_u] by itself is too nick-name-y. But within the last year I watched ‘Fleishman is in Trouble’, and the cute little Jewish kid (I’m Jewish, & love sweet Hebrew names for kids!) is called [name_m]Solly[/name_m]. I’ve never thought of [name_m]Solly[/name_m], but it’s so much more lovable than [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] or [name_u]Sol[/name_u].
