My favorite word names are:

Boys:
[name]North[/name]
[name]Grey[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]

Girls:
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
[name]True[/name]

I like word names such as Solace, [name]Flora[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Sage[/name], etc. I don’t like very obvious word names, like the ones you mentioned. Maybe in the middle name slot.

The beauty of [name]Season[/name] is that this child could be born any time of the year! I like [name]Meadow[/name] as a quirky mn. Some of my favourite word names are:

[name]Holiday[/name]
Radiance
Makepeace
Solace
Lovejoy/Loveday
Hopestill
[name]Noble[/name]
Valour
[name]Verity[/name]
Steadfast
Revere
Sublime

Cool. I like all the other ones suggested. Thanks for others ideas everyone!

I do agree that these ones I picked would probably be good mn options. I am not bold enough to use them as a fn, but I know some are more bold than I am.

I like [name]Meadow[/name] from your list. A lot of word names I don’t think I’d use myself (at least not for a first name), but I do like them and think they can be really cool.

I like [name]Poet[/name], [name]Story[/name], [name]True[/name], [name]Clover[/name], [name]Bay[/name], [name]Honor[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Gray[/name], [name]Echo[/name], [name]Winter[/name], [name]Rain[/name]… and I kind of like [name]Fable[/name] too

[name]Meadow[/name] & [name]Prairie[/name] are gorgeous (and on my list!)

Other word names I love: [name]Snow[/name], [name]Joy[/name], [name]Cloud[/name], [name]Rain[/name], [name]Liberty[/name], [name]Summer[/name], [name]River[/name].

[name]Prairie[/name] always makes me smile. I like the sound of [name]Season[/name] & [name]Meadow[/name] too.

Another I’ve seen on here and has grown on me a lot: Harvest
Others…
[name]Joy[/name], [name]Mercy[/name], [name]Truly[/name]
[name]Sage[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Basil[/name] (although some of these are fully accepted names, word names nonetheless)
[name]Emerald[/name], [name]Garnet[/name], [name]Amethyst[/name] (actually know one of those who goes by [name]Amy[/name])
[name]Sonata[/name], [name]Evening[/name], [name]Bay[/name], [name]Story[/name], [name]Reverie[/name], [name]Ember[/name]

I like a lot of word names, but not bold enough to use more than a standard virtue or nature name in the middle spot on a real child.

I love [name]Prairie[/name]!

Maybe [name]Reverie[/name]?

I steer clear of names like Humble or Honest cause I don’t want to tempt fate and end up with a kid who is opposite of whatever virtue!

[name]Prairie[/name] is my husband’s favorite

We like word names around here. My favorites are:

[name]Hart[/name]
[name]Fox[/name]
[name]Shire[/name]
[name]Ash[/name]
[name]Crane[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Hawk[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
[name]Fawn[/name]
[name]Fern[/name]
Bloom

[name]Mystery[/name] reminds me of an episode of Spongebob… “I knew I should have named her [name]Debbie[/name]”

I am with others. I like word names that are a little more established. I chose Frontier from the poll… I was going to choose the obviously more popular [name]Meadow[/name] or [name]Prairie[/name], but they seemed a little too hipster-hippy for my taste. I decided to go with what I felt was the sci-fi-spacey choice.

Word names I love and would use:
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Basil[/name]
[name]Gray[/name]

Oh, I forgot to say–I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Sonnet[/name]. So pretty! I think I’d use that or Solace in the first name slot for sure.

[name]Imagine[/name] little twins [name]Sonnet[/name] and Solace. OMG, so cute.

I also liked someone else’s suggestion of [name]Opal[/name] and [name]Lark[/name].

Betony, [name]Prosper[/name], [name]Verbena[/name], [name]Clement[/name].

Also: [name]Amity[/name], [name]Bell[/name], [name]Blithe[/name], Bloom, [name]Briar[/name], [name]Bryony[/name], [name]Basil[/name], [name]Birch[/name], [name]Boone[/name], Caraway, [name]Cedar[/name], [name]Cobalt[/name], [name]Cove[/name], [name]Concord[/name], [name]Clemency[/name], Calendula, [name]Clary[/name], [name]Comfort[/name], [name]Constance[/name], Costmary, [name]Delta[/name], [name]Dove[/name], [name]Evening[/name], [name]Era[/name], [name]Fern[/name], [name]Forest[/name], [name]Fox[/name], [name]Gale[/name], [name]Garnet[/name], [name]Grey[/name], [name]Gardenia[/name], Gladiola, ([name]Hero[/name]), [name]Hart[/name], [name]Honour[/name], Harvest, [name]Hawk[/name], [name]Hawthorn[/name], [name]Jacaranda[/name], Kestrel, [name]Lark[/name], [name]Loyal[/name], Loveday, [name]Merlin[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Maple[/name], [name]Marigold[/name], [name]Noon[/name], [name]North[/name], [name]Noble[/name], [name]Opal[/name], [name]Oak[/name], [name]Ocean[/name], [name]Oriole[/name], Osprey, [name]Peregrine[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Patience[/name], [name]Plum[/name], Poplar, [name]Primrose[/name], [name]Promise[/name], ([name]Psyche[/name]), [name]Quill[/name], [name]Roan[/name], [name]Royal[/name], [name]Silence[/name], Solstice, [name]Sable[/name], Thorn [name]Unity[/name], [name]Umber[/name], [name]Valerian[/name], Vetiver, [name]Viola[/name], [name]Vesper[/name], [name]Winsome[/name], [name]Wisteria[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Wolf[/name], [name]Yarrow[/name].

[name]Meadow[/name] is my favourite from your list, but I also quite like [name]Prairie[/name]. [name]Divine[/name], [name]Mystery[/name] and Humble seem a little pompous at first, I might like them once I get used to them though. Frontier is a little fun, but not something I have positive associations with is an initial reaction. I would prefer Mountain, although that one has flaws as well… ^^

I do adore word names, but I have to admit I too think they are better suited as middle names. Perhaps also because English is my second language and word names are very rare in Norway unless they are bynames from Norse times (Bjørn, used for someone who’s as strong as a bear), homonyms (Tone, a form of Torny but also meaning ‘tone’), or Norse names based on words (Ask, [name]Liv[/name]), or imports like [name]Constance[/name] (Konstanse is the preferred Norwegian spelling). As a rule, no new names are made like this, although I have heard of the practice of using normal words as names for children, Håp ('hope), Symra (‘anemone’) and Soleia ('buttercup) being the first to come to mind. I guess we are moving towards a broader acceptance for unique and inventive names here in Norway as well, and I have to admit that word names is a thing I’m all for importing as long as you translate the words and don’t get Norwegian boys named [name]River[/name] and girls named [name]Savannah[/name] (Savanne is Norwegian and not different enough to justify not using it because it wouldn’t be the same).

[name]Meadow[/name] is such a pretty name! I have a friend who recently used it for her new puppy though, haha.

For girls I really love a few of the color names: [name]Lavendar[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], and [name]Coral[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name].
Boy word names are not really my style, but I find most [name]River[/name]/[name]Cloud[/name]/[name]Storm[/name] names sound masculine to me.

[name]Meadow[/name] and [name]Prairie[/name] do seem to be the most usable, but I don’t really like any of them. Though I do like tons of word names.

[name]Clover[/name]
[name]Basil[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Fern[/name]
[name]Feather[/name]
[name]Gail[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Quill[/name]
[name]Reef[/name]
[name]Hart[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
[name]Coal[/name]
[name]Maple[/name]
[name]Ember[/name]
[name]Cypress[/name]
Zeal
Verily
[name]Finch[/name]
[name]Drake[/name]
[name]Coral[/name]

I only like [name]Season[/name] out of your list. It’s a name I wouldn’t mind on someone else’s child but, I would never actually use.

My favorite word names:
[name]Rose[/name] ([name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Rosalina[/name])
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Autumn[/name]
[name]Winter[/name] (only on a boy)
[name]Rain[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]

(If you can’t tell I’m not a fan of very many…)

My GP word names (I would never use these on a real person, but on fictional characters):
[name]Evening[/name]
Bloom
[name]Lotus[/name]
[name]Orchid[/name]
[name]Serenade[/name]
Claves (instrument)
[name]Mimosa[/name]
[name]Blossom[/name]
[name]Gardenia[/name]
[name]Sapphire[/name] (on a boy)
[name]Amethyst[/name]

I don’t like any of those word names.

Thanks for all the other word names that everyone suggested. I won’t use any of these most likely since I am not brave enough to use them, but I just wanted to see the majority vote for them and [name]Meadow[/name] is the highest.

I actually love a lot of word names, but usually the more mainstream ones like the virtue names and flower names.

Some of my favorites:
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Primrose[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
[name]Patience[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Lavender[/name]
[name]Basil[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]

And some others I can’t think of right now. A lot of my favorites were mentioned by everyone on here. Thanks for the feedback!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Prairie[/name] & [name]Divine[/name]! I’ve really tried to like [name]Meadow[/name] but it sounds to close to Metal for me.

My favorite word names:

[name]Poet[/name]
[name]Ever[/name]/[name]Ever[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
Glow
[name]Snow[/name]
[name]Lotus[/name]
[name]Amaryllis[/name]
Thistle
[name]Blu[/name]
Eyre
[name]Blossom[/name]
Boheme
