Trying to gain fresh perspective on my old favorites. You can talk about whatever aspect of the name you are most interested, meaning, personal opinions, associations, your favorite combos, siblings, whatever!
So, what do you think of [name]Zinnia[/name]?
-------------------------------- history for those interested------------------------------------
From the name of the flower, which was itself named for the [name]German[/name] botanist [name]Johann[/name] Zinn. It’s a newer floral name.
[name]Zinnia[/name] has never been in the US top 1,000.
As far as flower names go, this is a gazillion times better than [name]Daisy[/name] or [name]Marigold[/name] or [name]Lily[/name] or any of the other more popular/trendy flower names! Wholly under-rated. I would actually consider this name although it’s not, strictly speaking, on my list. I feel the same way about [name]Magnolia[/name] (even though it is starting to pick up a little).
I love [name]Zinnia[/name]. I pronounce “zin-ee-a”, but I’ve found others pronounce it “zeen-ya”, which I don’t like as much. I’ve heard others say it sounds made-up, but I think it’s super cool.
I actually wondered if [name]Zinnia[/name] was too tied to the flower, more so than say [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Lily[/name], and therefore just a bit zany. So that it stands alone is good to hear. And no negative thoughts yet!
I absolutely love [name]Zinnia[/name]! I’m a huge fan of flower names in general, but there’s just something about [name]Zinnia[/name] that stands out. It’s zippy and fun and sweet, but still completely usable, I really adore it. It was a FN on my long list a couple years ago. It’s fallen off the list for now, but I still really love it. I’m not sure I’d use it, but I would be thrilled to meet a little [name]Zinnia[/name]! I think [name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Zinnia[/name] is just adorable, too.
It’s a less “fussy” flower name for me, a little quirky, a little modern, very pretty. I say ZINN-ee-uh.
([name]Zinnia[/name] is also the name of a lesser but pivotal character in the manuscript I’m working on now…at least it’s her name until my editor tries to change it, I always just cross my fingers that they get to stay!)
