Trying to gain fresh perspective on my old favorites. You can talk about whatever aspect of the name you are most interested, meaning, personal opinions, associations, your favorite combos, siblings, whatever!
So, what do you think of [name]Juniper[/name]?
-------------------------------- history for those interested------------------------------------
[name]Juniper[/name] is a fresh-feeling nature name – it’s a small evergreen shrub–with lots of energy. A new favorite of fashionable parents, [name]Juniper[/name] joins such other tree and shrub names as [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Acacia[/name], and [name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name] has an interesting variety of associations–it’s mentioned in the Old Testament, was used in Renaissance paintings to
represent chastity, has berries used to flavor gin, and was a saint: Juniper (friar) - Wikipedia
[name]Juniper[/name] just entered the top 1,000 this year, at #968
I love [name]Juniper[/name]! It sounds so fresh and fun. It is a rare name without being too odd or out there in any way. I think it is a real gem. I also love [name]Cordelia[/name] from your list. [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Juniper[/name] was actually a contender for my list before
I feel like [name]Juniper[/name] is the next [name]Violet[/name]. Many of my conservative friends have [name]Juniper[/name] on their lists. if popularity bothers u I would remove it from your list as i feel like it will be shooting up the charts.
Hm. I hadn’t thought about that, considering it just entered the charts this year, in the 900s at that. I just don’t think I’m quite ready to worry about the popularity of it quite yet.
I love [name]Juniper[/name]! I first saw it as the main character in abook I read as a teenager, so at the time it seemed mysterious and unique, especially as the character was also quite mysterious. So I tend to associate it with quiet, serious natured people, but because it’s a nature name I can also see it working well on a bubbly, outgoing girl too. I like the nicknames [name]June[/name], [name]Junia[/name] and [name]Piper[/name] (a slight stretch there :)).
I think it will slowly get more ‘mainstream’, but people have been loving [name]Juniper[/name] on the forums and naming sites for a few years now and it is only just appearing in the top 1000. That’s why I don’t think it’s rise will be meteoric. So if you use it in the next few years you could still be an early adopter and your daughter shouldn’t be have multiple Junipers in her class at school. That’s what I’m thinking, anyway
I also like the idea that more conservative people also have it on their lists, or think it could be the nest [name]Violet[/name]. I guess I usually thought of it as a [name]Phoenix[/name] or [name]Raven[/name] type nature name - slightly left of centre and too “hippie-ish” for more conservative people to use!
I really like all of the [name]June[/name] names, [name]Juniper[/name], [name]Junia[/name], [name]June[/name], etc. I love the nicknames [name]Junie[/name], JuJu, [name]June[/name] Bug… I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to use it. I also love [name]Violet[/name] right now, and although I dislike her popularity, I don’t know how I’d deal with people making faces if/when I said, “Oh, her name is [name]Juniper[/name]”. Does that make sense?
See, one person says it’s too out there, and might get weird looks (which I tend to agree with) and another is afraid of it skyrocketing up the charts. Haha. Looks like we aren’t really sure where this one is going yet.
I probably should have mentioned that where I live, all babies are named Somethingayden, [name]Kaylee[/name], [name]Kylie[/name], [name]Karleigh[/name], Kaytee, or a top ten name only. So in my neck of the woods, [name]Juniper[/name] would get weird looks/faces and comments like, “Oh, that’s different…”
