Which is your favourite name and why please?
i chose [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]! i’m loving it right now, and the nicknames [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f] & [name_f]Bella[/name_f] are so cute and sweet! [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] could give you the nickname [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] too!
[name_f][/name_f]i love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], and i also love [name_f]Grace[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]!
I chose [name_f]Celia[/name_f], because of the [name_m]Ben[/name_m] [name_m]Jonson[/name_m] poem “To Celia” and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] Faith’s composition of it. [name_f][/name_f] I prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] to [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f] I also prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] as spellings. [name_f][/name_f] I really have never liked the name [name_f]Grace[/name_f] – it’s far too common – but I do like [name_m]Merce[/name_m], [name_f]Grazia[/name_f], and [name_f]Graziella[/name_f].
All of these are lovely! [name_f][/name_f] I voted for [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], even though I prefer the [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] spelling. [name_f][/name_f] I also love [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], and [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], probably in that order! [name_f][/name_f] I adore the nn [name_f]Cici[/name_f], love how elegant and international and timeless [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is, and I even like the meaning “blind”—I love the idea of being blind to prejudice and division and evil, not in a way of not caring for those who suffer, but rather in the way of not letting ugliness affect the goodness and love you live from. [name_f][/name_f] Also very fond of the way [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] changed the narrative of handicaps being curses and God’s disfavor and rather showed them love that no one else in society did. [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], for this reason, embodies kindness and goodness to a degree that not a lot of names do, for me. [name_f][/name_f] ![]()
Good luck!
@ashthedreamer Wow, this is such a gorgeous way of looking at the meaning of Cecelia, one which I had never thought of, thanks so much for sharing this.
Of course! [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is such a special name—I will use any excuse to gush about the reasons I love her haha!
I chose [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. I enjoy the rhythm and the bright, sing-songy sound. It’s classic but not overly common, and it feels youthful and dignified all at once. [name_f]Cece[/name_f] is such a fun nickname too.
[name_f][/name_f]As for meaning, I’ve seen it mentioned that ‘blind’ is an simplification. Some interpretations favour ‘Heaven’s lily’ or
[name_f][/name_f]‘way to blind men’. You could also use middle names to shape a more fitting message.
I chose [name_m]Orla[/name_m], I adore [name_f]Erin[/name_f] and [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] too.
I chose [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. It reminds me of the glamour of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_m]Kelly[/name_m] and I love its vintage style and its meaning.
I love [name_f]Celia[/name_f] at the moment [name_f][/name_f]- such a sweet, bright name [name_f][/name_f]- sophisticated but sparkly.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- sharp and succinct [name_f][/name_f]- and [name_m]Orla[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- golden, distinctive and lovely [name_f][/name_f]- were second picks
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], because it’s beautiful, strong and melodic in sound.
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]. I like the association with [name_f]Celia[/name_f] from As You Like It[name_f][/name_f]. It sounds silky and sunny.
I chose [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f] it feels current, but not ‘trendy’, and yet somehow vintagey too [name_f][/name_f]- plant names are sort of inherently timeless. I love the natural imagery and the soft sound it makes. It’s short but still feels complete. Also, not for nothing, I really like the [name_m]Taylor[/name_m] [name_m]Swift[/name_m] song of the same name ![]()
It was a tough choice, but ultimately I went with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. For such a short name, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] packs quite a punch. It’s a classic literary nature name with smart, pretty energy. I like the sound and it’s super sweet.
Niamh!! I’m all for [name_m]Irish[/name_m] names, I think [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] would be the coolest girl ever.
[name_f][/name_f]I also love [name_m]Orla[/name_m] (I’m a big [name_m]Derry[/name_m] Girls fan) but my partner unfortunately does not ![]()
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] for the sounds [name_f][/name_f], I also adore the name [name_f]Celia[/name_f] ![]()
