Faye or Hazel?

Still early in the first trimester, but can’t help but already think of names  What are your thoughts on [name_f]Faye[/name_f]? Does it sound too simple like it’s missing a syllable or something? If we do have a girl, trying to find a name that she can grow into as an adult. My husband is bothered that neither of these names really have nicknames (I didn’t have one as a kid, and it didn’t bother me).

I just don’t want an extremely common name… but not am extremely common one either. Somewhere in the middle.

I’d like to use “[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]” as a middle name to honor my grandmother. This is how it would flow (our last name is pronounced like Bowdwin). Honest opinions, please! And I’ll take other suggestions too!

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Beaudoin
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Beaudoin

I think [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is a great name - unique without being odd and I think it transitions to adulthood well. I think the e on the end gives it some weight.

Congratulations!
I really like [name_f]Faye[/name_f], it doesn’t feel incomplete to me, however, I can see where you’re coming from. [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] just doesn’t sounds quite right to me.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is one of those names that has grown on me. Of the two, [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] sounds best, in my opinion.

What about using [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] as a first name? [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] work quite nicely. Plus, there are many nickname options with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]: [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f]…

I like [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] too! [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f] or [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] work well. [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] isn’t the greatest, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

Other suggestions:
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_u]Matti[/name_u]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]/[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn Fi
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tabi[/name_f]

Congratulations!

I personally prefer [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. Congrats!

I prefer the name [name_f]Faye[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] goes better with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! As pp mentioned, [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] doesn’t have the best flow, but I love both names. Congrats and I think you are on a great track with names!

Thanks so much! My husband isnt a huge fan of the name [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] so I don’t think I will be able to convince him to use it as a first name  I’ll be lucky if he lets me keep it as a middle

I love the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] too… [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] eleanor flows nicely… will def keep that on the top of my list!

I love [name_f]Faye[/name_f]! Magical and whimsical, but also firmly grounded, and gentle. [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] sounds good too.

With such a lovely surname, I’d expect an equally beautiful first name. I guess it’s a matter of taste, but [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] come across as plain/unattractive to me. [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]? [name_f]Honore[/name_f]? [name_f]Helene[/name_f]? Azelea?

I would generally prefer [name_f]Faye[/name_f], but I agree that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] flows a bit better.

Have you considered [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]? It’s a gorgeous combination, and she could go by [name_f]Faye[/name_f] as a nn if you wanted.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is a sweet combo to go by, not necessarily her full name or even a double name. But I can imagine calling out [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] to a sweet little girl as a sort of pet name.
