Felicia

What are your thoughts on the name [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]? How would you pronounce it? Did the “Bye, [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]” saying/meme ruin it?

Which would you pick - [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] or [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]?

I pronounce it “Feh-lee-sha”, rhyming with [name_f]Alicia[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] to [name_f]Felicia[/name_f], but I don’t dislike it. I’m not really aware of the meme so it doesn’t bother me.

I think I prefer [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] to [name_f]Alicia[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]. When I think [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u], Scandinavia and [name_m]Hi[/name_m] [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] (the curl influencer). I had never heard of the meme til someone mentioned it on nameberry recently.

I pronounce it fel-iss-ee-uh or fel-ee-see-uh interchangeably, but if someone says it fuh-lee-shuh, I pronounce their name that way. But for me [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] is uh-liss-ee-uh so I pronounce it naturally more like that and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

I love the meaning of [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] more than [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], but I think I prefer the sound of [name_f]Alicia[/name_f]. I love that they both have the gorgeous nickname [name_f]Lici[/name_f]. I also have a love of the unusual version [name_f]Felicienne[/name_f], I think it sounds so elegant. Either way [name_f]Felicia[/name_f], [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] you can’t go wrong

It’s cute! I say fuh-lee-sha. Never heard of the meme. I prefer [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] over [name_f]Alicia[/name_f].

I say it feh-LEESH-uh. I knew a girl named [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] in high school and she definitely rocked the meme association. I think it would be very difficult to avoid though because it’s most of this generation’s only association with the name [name_f]Felicia[/name_f].

I really like it! I say feh-leesh-uh, and prefer [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] over [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] just because it’s more interesting.

Now I feel bad… what does “bye, [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]” mean :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Thanks everyone! [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] turned me on to this name. I like the fe-LEE-sha pronunciation, but I also read it can be pronounced fe-LEE-see-uh and I’m not sure which one I prefer.

@Etymology fel-iss-ee-uh is lovely too! I like Felicienne too - it’s wonderfully unexpected.

@ethelmary “Bye, [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]” is reference to a movie from the 1990s. It basically means “I find you annoying so I’m not going to talk to you anymore”.

Bye [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] IMMEDIATELY comes to my mind any time I hear the name. So yes, I feel like the saying/meme ruined it for me.

I would for sure go with [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] over [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] personally.
