Hello Berries!
I have liked [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] for a long time. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] was one of the American Girl dolls (of which I had several) and she was my favorite (even though I have her). So [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] has been a name I have liked for a while.
Anyway, I have her on my middle names list since as long as I’ve had that list, but now I’m wondering if she should be on my first names list. I also found a cool saint named [name_f]Felicitas[/name_f] ([name_f]Felicity[/name_f]) and she was really cool so that made me like the name more. My problem: I am not a huge fan of word names. Is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] too wordy? Are people going to think of the word or not realize it?
Please mention any opinions of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I love to hear what you guys have to say.
Thanks!
HTB
I don’t think of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] as a word name really…certainly not in the same way I do as [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] etc. I actually know a [name_f]Felicitas[/name_f] and she goes by the nn Felly ( I’m not sure if this is how she spells it but it’s pronounced [name_f]Faye[/name_f]-ley). I think both names are really lovely!
I don’t think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is a wordy name. I like it as a first name it’s very pretty.
Same as above, I don’t feel [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is too wordy, I think it’s pretty and feminine. There’s a character on the tv show “[name_m]Arrow[/name_m],” who is named [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], and goes by [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] 100% of the time.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is one of those names that make me smile. It has a spunky vibe and a joyful spirit. It’s a word name but it’s not as wordy to me as names like [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] or [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. That’s probably due to the fact that [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] has been a first name for much longer. It has a saintly pedigree as well as a Puritan one so I wouldn’t get too hung up on the word. [name_m]How[/name_m] many people use the word felicity in every day life?
I didn’t even realise [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] was a ‘word’ so it can’t be that commonly used. To me it’s a name through and through. I know a [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Flick[/name_f].
I adore [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. It’s always been one of my favourites. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] has a charming, happy, tinkly feel to me! It doesn’t feel wordy to me as [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] hasn’t been used as a word (in ordinary conversation) for a century.
Edit to add: Felicity seems strangely popular where I live. I know three - they go by Flick, Flik and Fliss. My favourite is Fliss!
I didn’t even know [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] was a word name! lol. It’s gorgeous and I love it.
I don’t think of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] as a word name. If you think about it, every name could be a word name because they all mean something.
95% of the time when I introduce my daughter [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], people are 1) completely unfamiliar with the name and 2) have no idea that it means happiness, so they are unfamiliar with the root word! And I have to say, I go by her nickname that my husband came up with, “Lissy”, 80% of the time, much more than I thought I would, but it is just so natural!
