Feminizing Thomas

Hey berries! I’ve wrote in on this topic before and you gave me some great suggestions on how to honor the Thomases in my life if I were to have a baby girl. Someone said Masey, but as I was trying to create a full name around that I thought of Mason. Would love your opinion on if Mason can work as a girls middle name, if it’s too far of a stretch from Thomas, these pairings, or any other suggestions you may have. Thanks a bunch!

mason is a very creative nod to thomas. i love it and think it absolutely works! i’m quite fond of tamsin and thomasin myself. :art:

I like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Mason[/name_u]! I have actually known a [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] who went by “Tommi.”

I think [name_u]Mason[/name_u] can definitely work as a middle name, though I also second the suggestions of [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] (especially!) and [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f]

maybe [name_m]Tomi[/name_m] can be a good feminine form of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]? I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] Mason!!!

I think [name_u]Mason[/name_u] works especially if you feel it works. I also second (third?) the suggestion of [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]

I think [name_u]Mason[/name_u] works as a middle for girls and as an honour for [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

I think all your options work though [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] are my favourites with [name_u]Mason[/name_u].

I like it! I definitely prefer [name_u]Mason[/name_u] to [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is my favorite but all your combos are great.

These are great combos! I really love Susanna Mason! It may be more clear with a T first name…

Tessa Mason
Thea Mason
Theresa Mason
Theodora Mason

[name_m]Eh[/name_m], too stretchy for me. Sorry.

Other ideas:

  • Any ‘th-’ names such as [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] etc or even a t name.
  • A feminization such as [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] and [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
  • Names with the same meaning. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] means twin flower, like how [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] means twin.

the obvious ones are as already stated [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], [name_u]Tommie[/name_u] and [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]. I’ve met people with all of those names and think they’re all great names.

For me [name_u]Mason[/name_u] has a lot of negative associations and I don’t like it on a boy never mind a girl…I would also never connect [name_u]Mason[/name_u] as an honour for a [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

Of your combinations [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] has the nicest flow in my opinion

I don’t think [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is unusable for a girl. I actually used to know a Maysun, which could be why I prefer that spelling for girls.

BUT….

I do think it is quite a stretch to say it’s an honor to a [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. Sorry! [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] would be my vote!

I personally wouldn’t connect Mason to Thomas. I like the suggestion of Tamsin or another Th- name maybe? My first thought was Thora as it has the Tho- beginning in common.

I like [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]! :cherry_blossom:
not too much of a fan of [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for a girl’s middle name…

I think [name_u]Mason[/name_u] works as a name for a girl, but it is a bit of a stretch from [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. It works, but it was hard at first for me to see how to get there  [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] is a feminization of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] though as well :relaxed:

I love [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Mason[/name_u]! They sound really pretty together!

I think it absolutely works as a middle and is super cute but not sure it’s feminine (as ur title suggests is looking for)…
I usually don’t love alt spellings but I think it works well here. Masyn is a little more feminine and achieves same result.
Good luck!

[name_u]Mason[/name_u] could work if you want it. [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f], [name_f]Tomasa[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], and [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] are the usually femme variants but why not.

I honestly wouldn’t have guessed for the life of me that [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is supposed to honor a [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] so I would say it doesn’t work. I also dislike [name_u]Mason[/name_u], especially for a girl, sorry!

What about [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f]? It was used by the pioneers and sounds nice.
