We have two boys, [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and were just told that we’re having our first GIRL who will be named [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. This has sparked conversation as to whether we’ll stop at three since we always hoped for two boys and then two girls–and we seem to be on track for that!
Our children have short names, and we have unintentionally started a pattern of 4 letters, 3 letters, 4 letters. We are tempted to keep this going if we have a fourth baby and so far [name_f]Fia[/name_f] seems to be a favourite, especially for my partner, and since he let me use [name_m]Leo[/name_m] even though he doesn’t care for it much, I am tempted to let him have [name_f]Fia[/name_f] should we have a second girl. My only concern: is it too close with [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (it kind of combines the two sounds)? We are also kicking around [name_u]Ara[/name_u], [name_f]Ana[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], and [name_f]Ila[/name_f].
If we choose not to go with this pattern, another girl would be [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] most likely–do you think [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] would feel out of place with siblings [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?
And finally what are your favourite three letter boy and girl names? For boys we don’t seem to like ANY so if it isn’t another girl, I don’t know if we’ll try and keep up the pattern, since I don’t really want to settle for a name I don’t love to keep up a trend. Thoughts? And thanks for your help!
for your fourth, i don’t think she would feel out of place as it isn’t an obvious trend with [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] plus she could always go by [name_u]Nat[/name_u] which is three or [name_u]Tally[/name_u] which is four. if being honest i really like [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]!!
but some suggestions for you!
[name_f]Tia[/name_f]/[name_f]Tea[/name_f]
[name_f]Pia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_u]Sky[/name_u]
[name_f]Lia[/name_f]/[name_f]Lea[/name_f]
[name_f]Noa[/name_f]
Congratulations! [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are perfect together: Modern, tailored, and stylish. I think [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] suits this well, because although it is longer, it doesn’t feel overly frilly and is modern but evergreen. If you want to keep the pattern, here are some ideas:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]/[name_f]Ava[/name_f]: The former is quite vintage, but tailored and substantial, just like [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. The second is far more modern, but every bit as gorgeous and wonderful. It’s a combination of [name_f]Ana[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. [name_f]Ida[/name_f] is another option. [name_f]Eve[/name_f]: If [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is on your list, could I possibly get you to consider [name_f]Eve[/name_f]? It is one syllable, like several of your favorites, and is tailored, striking, and classic. [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] make natural siblings. [name_f]Gia[/name_f]: I tend to think that [name_f]Fia[/name_f] is a bit too close with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u], so what about [name_f]Gia[/name_f]? It is every bit as spunky and bright. [name_f]Nia[/name_f] is another consideration. [name_f]Amy[/name_f]: Tailored, with strong sounds, a beautiful meaning, and three letters. [name_f]Joy[/name_f]: I think this virtue name is just about perfect with your sibset. It’s timeless, sweet, tailored, and beautiful. [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f]: This upbeat, spunky name reminds me of the [name_f]Ila[/name_f] and [name_f]Ana[/name_f] on your list, although a bit more mainstream.
I do think [name_f]Fia[/name_f] is too close to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] unfortunately. There are some amazing suggestions above, and I think I like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] best with siblings [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]! Personally though, I don’t think the 4-3-4 pattern is obvious at all, so any short name would fit in imo.
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is kind of long, what about [name_f]Talia[/name_f]? Still 3 syllables, but visually shorter.
I think [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] works okay with your sibset, definitely with [name_f]Kate[/name_f], other nickname thoughts could be Atley, [name_u]Allie[/name_u], [name_u]Tali[/name_u] or [name_f]Ila[/name_f] (if you want a nice double name).
After reading, my initial thought was [name_f]Tess[/name_f] or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], although not as frilly as some of your other suggestions, it fits in with the no nonsense, short name and is an acceptable nickname name as a standalone like [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and in a way, [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
Out of your selections, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are personal favourites, but I actually think [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Eve[/name_f] would work better, again still the shorter names but they tie together the sibset really well imo.
Other suggestions:
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] names like: [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Tara[/name_f], [name_f]Yara[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f] or [name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]: chic and works with all your kids names [name_u]Romy[/name_u]: bridges the gap between [name_u]Finn[/name_u], very modern, [name_m]Leo[/name_m], very classic, and [name_f]Kate[/name_f], traditional modern. Also another acceptable nickname full name. [name_f]Orla[/name_f]: I think it’s also an anglicised irish name like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (if I remember), so another bridge the gap thing.
