Finalizing Baby Boy's Name to go with Victoria Jane

Hello!

Our baby boy is due in less than a month, and the saga of choosing his name has been dragging out for a very long time. I am ready to get it decided and get things monogrammed, but I am hopelessly indecisive. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I think one of the names is the clear winner, I change my mind.

We are [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and our daughter is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Obviously we need an equally classic, traditional, royal name for baby boy. We’ve narrowed it down to the following. They are all family names, and all the other traditional names were likely ruled out due to not sounding good with our last name or other associations, etc.

First Names:

[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Richard[/name_m]

Middle Names:

Any of those three we don’t pick +
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Alan[/name_m]

Particularly for the first name, what do you all think we should go with?? Thanks so much!

I love your names!
I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] best for your first.
[name_m]Richard[/name_m] I don’t like as well and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is my second pick but much more widely used currently
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] I know two young [name_m]Henry[/name_m]'s
I would rule out [name_m]John[/name_m] as [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is the feminine of [name_m]John[/name_m]
And [name_m]Richard[/name_m] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] because of the d sounds.
And [name_u]Everett[/name_u] because of alliteration
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Alan[/name_m] are the remaining middles
I don’t feel [name_m]Alan[/name_m] fits as well with your family
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] would again be My second pick
My preference is for [name_u]James[/name_u] because it works well/ sounds best and pairs well in the sib set two one syllable j names
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is my pick for you
EJ and [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]/ [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] are both cute nns
Congrats!

My choice would be [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u]

I think [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is the most truly classic choice to match the rest of your family. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is of course classic but also is going to be tied to this generation as it’s become so popular in recent years. And [name_m]Richard[/name_m] I think is tied to our parents generation more so than other time periods (And I personally do it like it). [name_m]Edward[/name_m] I feel like is more uncommon these days but also not shocking on a baby. It has a truly classic vibe and upon hearing it I can pictire a newborn, 30 year old, 80 year old, whatever…
I think I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m] best.

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is my favorite for you!

I automatically thought of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Tudor[/name_m] who was an uncle of the [name_m]Tudor[/name_m] line…I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and jasper together

I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] best for you: [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]!

I agree [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] go best with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] I like but it is a lot softer than [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] I much prefer over [name_m]Richard[/name_m]! I also like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. [name_u]James[/name_u] as a subtle match to [name_f]Jane[/name_f]

I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] best with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].

I’m very partial to [name_m]Alan[/name_m], even though [name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u] would arguably flow better. [name_m]Alan[/name_m] feels more distinguished/less run of the mill.

So my top choice is [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m], followed by [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], and although a bit d heavy [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] can be very handsome with the right surname.

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]!

Thanks so much for all the input! Would it be clunky to call a baby “[name_m]Edward[/name_m]” (no nickname?)?

I don’t think it would be clunky at all! [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is so lovely and I don’t think you need to use a diminutive [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] on a baby.

I like [name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. Still royal, but a little more unusual.

I love [name_m]Edward[/name_m], but am leaning more towards [name_m]Richard[/name_m] for you. Like the previous poster wrote; it’s still royal, but more unusual. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] feels quite bland to me because of the popularity, but it does sound great with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] (my favourite!)
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u]

Another vote for [name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. It just sounds perfect with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Good luck

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]!

I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], but have you considered [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] after his dad?
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m], nn [name_m]Tommy[/name_m] and later [name_m]Tom[/name_m] fits your style.
Also [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
