FINALLY a girl! Thoughts on Rosalie

Ladies - I have THREE boys. I finally am getting my girl and have been dreaming of names. Here is my issue.

I’ve been really loving [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] lately. Middle name will be either [name_u]Rae[/name_u] or [name_u]Jo[/name_u] (family names). My boys are named [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. Someone on another name board mentioned that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] might have be too similar to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. We [name_f]DO[/name_f] use middle names often (not MOST of the time, but affectionately for sure). I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] so much, I’m not sure I care. Chances are, she will end up being called [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. As you see I’m trying to justify it. I just want to hear your thoughts and what you might do.

One of my other favorite names I’ve already ruled out - [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], because of the “[name_u]Jules[/name_u]” nickname and already having a “[name_u]Jude[/name_u]”. But that is much more similar in my opinion.

Other names in the running: [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f]… and lower on the list are names like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Norah[/name_f]…(all of which feel too common to me personally in my circles).

I’d love to hear your thoughts!!

I do feel that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is close to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], but in a cute way. I really think you could get away with it. I also like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] - maybe [name_f]Violetta[/name_f]/[name_f]Viola[/name_f]?

Others:
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_f]Hanna[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]. Thats my 9 month old daughter’s name. Named after both her great grandparents. Her nickname started out as [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], now the family just calls her Roro haha.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] is a real winner.

I do not think it is too similar in the slightest.

It is a classic, refined, pretty, very feminine name, especially after 3 boys!

I agree with all the PPs that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is not too similar to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] at all. I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] sounds great, hitting all the right notes: classic yet unpretentious, familiar but not overly popular, pretty but not frilly. [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is spunky and cute.

If you are swayed and start thinking [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is too close, would [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] work instead?

Best of luck in resolving your name dilemma, and congratulations!

I love the name [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. It’s my youngest girl’s name. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] both sound adorable

I think you should go with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]!

Thanks for the input ladies! I think some people just overanalyze every detail about a name! And my sister pointed out that I would probably never say “[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]” and “[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]” together. And the emphasis is on different sounds, too.

Now to get my hubby on the same page.

Congrats!! I love your kids names and every name on your list!
I don’t think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is too close at all! Use it! The only thing I’d change is middle name options
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-so so sweet!
My close second fav from your list is [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be darling!

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is very pretty and I don’t think it is too similar to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - I can see when the similarity is, but it is hardly over the top. Out of all the names that you listed [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is my top choice. Go with your heart!

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] doesn’t sound too similar to her brother at all. It’s beautiful! I also am a huge [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] fan; do you like the nickname [name_f]Jette[/name_f]? I’m not a big [name_u]Jules[/name_u] fan. Either name would be feminine and lovely next to her big brothers’ names.

I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s THAT similar to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. Go for it.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]/[name_f]Josepha[/name_f]/[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] → [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] (not that you asked for 2nd name options sorry,)[name_m]Say[/name_m] the two contentious names out loud and I doubt Isaaclee…
and RosalieJohh… are problematic. If you used the full name the ‘lie’ is swallowed up. 'Tis Beautiful.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is beautiful. I love all the names on your list.

I honestly don’t think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] are too similar, when one is middle name and she will be called by middle names very often. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is beautiful and is a name that has been growing on my exponentially, so of course I will urge you to use it for your daughter. And congratulations on having a girl, I know I couldn’t live without my two.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is one of my favourite girls names. Other names come and go, but I always come back to [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. I would suggest [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]!

I get what people say that [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is similar to [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], but I don’t think as it in a bad way. It’s kinda cute without being cheesy.

But, if you are unsure of using [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], I do really like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Personally, I also adore [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], as you can see on my signature but feel that you don’t love it as much haha. You could also use another [name_f]Rose[/name_f] variation like [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or why not, just [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

I love the name [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]–it’s my grandmother’s name, and I’m glad that people are growing to appreciate this name.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is not too close to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] at all in my opinion. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] would be extremely cute. Another combination that came to me was [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], with [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] as the nickname.
