We have a boy name picked out that honors two people and that I absolutely love. There are a lot of girl names I like, but no first names that really feel like “the one.” Middle name will be [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] after my mother. I’m finding that rhythmically, everything sounds better AFTER [name_f]Pamela[/name_f], but there’s no way hubby would go for [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] as first name.
So far the top contenders are [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] (2 syllable last name). We like both first names, but there isn’t a special connection to either name.
Other family names that could be possibilities:
[name_u]June[/name_u] (But doesn’t [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] sound much better than [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] (my middle name, not sure I could name a baby [name_f]Louise[/name_f] as her first name)
[name_f]Marlene[/name_f] (don’t like the nn [name_f]Marly[/name_f])
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Verna[/name_f] (anything ending in “a” sounds too rhymey to me)
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Annette[/name_f]
[name_f]Edna[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (no one is really sure which one was great grandma’s middle name…)
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]
or Turah
We live on a family farm in the midwest, so I’ve tried to come up with names that represent the place we love but have had trouble. For example: grandma’s favorite wildflower on the farm was [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]'s [name_f]Lace[/name_f]. [name_f]Anne[/name_f] just doesn’t feel special enough. [name_f]Lacy[/name_f] is too 90s.
All of the boy names we love are one syllable and begin with consonants so they feel strong and masculine. I love how spunky and feminine yet strong [name_f]Claire[/name_f] feels. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is pretty and feminine- I worry some people will pronounce is “ee-lise” rather than “eh-lise.” But I’m not sure if that’s really a deal breaker.
Any suggestions? Variations on listed names? All advice is welcome! Thanks in advance!
I love both [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. They are both excellent choices!
Of your list, here are my opinions:
[name_u]June[/name_u] - I love, love, love [name_u]June[/name_u], but agree that [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] doesn’t have the greatest flow but it’s not the worst! [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] is actually growing on me
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] - Although I love vintage names, [name_f]Louise[/name_f] isn’t my cup of tea; maybe [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]?
[name_f]Marlene[/name_f] - I don’t like [name_u]Marley[/name_u] either, or [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] either for that matter. I just can’t envision [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] on a little girl (SORRY!). Maybe [name_f]Elena[/name_f]?
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - not bad!
[name_f]Verna[/name_f] - [name_f]Verna[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] doesn’t flow well at all, like you said. What about [name_f]Vera[/name_f]? It’s close to [name_f]Verna[/name_f] and flows better with [name_f]Pamela[/name_f].
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]! [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] just doesn’t flow off my tongue
[name_f]Annette[/name_f] - [name_f]Annette[/name_f] would be a great way to honor the family farm "[name_f]ANNE[/name_f]"tte
[name_f]Edna[/name_f] - a little too vintage for me, surprisingly. I do love [name_f]Edith[/name_f], though!
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] - a favorite of mine! I also love [name_f]Dot[/name_f]/[name_f]Dottie[/name_f] as a nickname
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - either way, a fantastic name!
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] - I’m not a fan of [name_f]Helen[/name_f], but like [name_f]Helene[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
Turah - not for me
I like [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f], but agree that the flow isn’t the best. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f]?
I also like [name_f]Annette[/name_f]. [name_f]Annette[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] is a nice solid combo.
[name_f]Anne[/name_f] is my all time favorite name! I think it is immeasurably special. I also love [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. I like the flow of [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] better than [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f]. I am usually against it, but how about two middle names?
