Finnick for a boy?

Hey!

My older brother [name]Adam[/name]'s wife is six months pregnant, and they’ve been messing around with this name for a little bit and they want to know the general reaction. Their other children’s names are also different, but they’re hesitant with this name for a few reasons.

They have five children:

[name]Aston[/name] [name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Westley[/name] ‘[name]Wes[/name]’ [name]Hendrix[/name] [name]Cole[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name] ‘[name]Sera[/name]’ [name]Grace[/name] [name]Cole[/name]
[name]Reverie[/name] [name]Samara[/name] [name]Cole[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Xavier[/name] [name]Cole[/name]

They are questioning Finnick because they don’t want it to be shortened to [name]Finn[/name] (which is growing in popularity), but also because of how well it would go with his siblings’ names.

If they chose Finnick it would be:
[name]Aston[/name], [name]Wes[/name], [name]Sera[/name], [name]Reverie[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name], and Finnick.

So, what do you think of a little Finnick? LN [name]Cole[/name]. Middle name is between Clapton or [name]Samuel[/name].

*and yes my brother’s a guitar fanatic - [name]Vaughn[/name], [name]Hendrix[/name], Clapton, etc. In case you were wondering.

Thanks, Nameberry!

Finnick [name]Samuel[/name] is a great name and I think it goes well with the rest of the kiddos names. [name]One[/name] thing to bring up though is its popularity from Hunger Games and sounds like finicky. Actually when I went to type it on my IPad, it autocorrrected it to finicky.

It’s just too “Hunger Games” for me, as that’s the only place I’ve ever seen the name. [name]Don[/name]'t get me wrong, I love Hunger Games, but I wouldn’t use it. It also just makes me think of the word “finicky,” which is a negative to me. I love their other names though!

Hunger Games? I like it. It’s cool, but not too “weird”. Works with the sibset. I like Finnick Clapton.

[name]Haven[/name]'t read/seen the Hunger Games, but I’ve definitely heard of it. They probably know about it (one of their daughters is fifteen), so I’m not sure if that’ll be the best choice, but they might not care.

Yes! I bet we will be seeing a lot of Finnicks in the future! It is one of the most useable names from The Hunger Games and he is a well loved character. Hopefully they are fans. It would seem weird to use it if they weren’t.
I’m not found of [name]Finn[/name] either.

I like Finnick! He was one of my favorite characters in THG, and while I’m not sure I’m looking to use a HG name anytime soon, as far as they go, Finnick is pretty usable. I like it a lot, and I agree, Finnick goes well with his siblings. I do think it’s likely to get shortened to [name]Finn[/name], but it could just as easily be shortened to [name]Nick[/name]/[name]Nico[/name], and I don’t think it’d be too hard to insist that they call him just Finnick. I do agree with @niteowl13, though, that it would be a bit strange if they’re not HG fans.

Finnick was one of my favorite characters in the Hunger Games, plus it’s an interesting name without being too out there.
I actually think Finnick sounds just fine with [name]Aston[/name], [name]Westley[/name], [name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Reverie[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name]. I would go with Finnick [name]Samuel[/name] so he has one ‘normal’ name to go by if he thinks Finnick is too weird.

I [name]LOVE[/name] it. Very usable in my opinion.

I don’t like it, it just reminds me of the word ‘finicky’.

That was my first thought as well.

I think Finnick [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Cole[/name] is a great name!

Finnick Clapton is cool [name]IMO[/name]. Finnick was one of my favourite characters in THG and when I first saw it, I thought it’d work well in the real world as well.

I love it & used it for my son (born 2004… honest to God I just discovered the Hunger Games character tonight! I’ve been online for an hour reading about him!)

Ironically, I named him after my favorite book character, [name]Finn[/name] from A Separate [name]Peace[/name]. We lengthened it to Finnick (a name we thought we were making up) because I like options, and this name can be shortened to either [name]Finn[/name] or [name]Nick[/name]. It does bother me kind of a lot though that both [name]Finn[/name]/Finnick characters have tragic endings!

We have never met another Finnick. I’m guessing that will change! He’ll be one of the older people with his name, just as I am with mine ([name]Megan[/name])!

I know it’s a bit too late to reply. I think [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] Clapton is a very charming name . Please don’t go with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. It just happens that the guy who play finnick in hunger games is called [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] Claflin. And i think it would be too ‘hunger games’ for a kid
