Hello! For our first we have a few names picked out, but all the names we love seem to end in “s” and our last name is [name_m]Phillips[/name_m].
The names we like are [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] or [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] for a boy and [name_u]Jules[/name_u] or [name_u]Collins[/name_u] for a girl.
What are your thoughts on both the first name and last name ending in “s”? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they sound ok phonetically?
We like more laid-back, southern/country sounding names. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
It honestly just depends on the name. As a general rule, I think it is wise to avoid first names that share sounds with the last name. That’s just me, though. Some people think it is cool or not a big deal.
Of the names you listed, I think that [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] and [name_u]Jules[/name_u] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] are okay. [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] sounds too abrupt and [name_u]Collins[/name_u] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] has that double “L” thing going on as well as the “s” endings…it’s just a bit too much.
As for suggestions (note: some of these could be used for either sex):
[name_m]Grayson[/name_m] (for a boy or girl)
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]
[name_u]Shelby[/name_u]
[name_m]Cash[/name_m]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Roy[/name_u]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellison[/name_u]
[name_u]Beau[/name_u]
[name_m]Dawson[/name_m]
[name_m]Price[/name_m]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m], [name_u]Collins[/name_u] and [name_u]Jules[/name_u] end in the Z sound, despite the spelling. I think [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] and [name_u]Jules[/name_u] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] sound fine.
