My husband and I both like the name [name_u]Logan[/name_u] for a boy, but our last name (Magin) ends in a similar “gen” sound. Is to it sing-song rhyme-y? It would be pronounced LOWGahN MAYGihN. We really loved the name until we realized how similar it was to our last name. Thoughts?
Sometimes I don’t mind repetition, but in this case it just doesn’t sound good to my ear. If they both ended in an -en sound instead of -gen kind of sound, it wouldn’t be too bad. Some similar names that avoid the -gen sound are [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_m]Landon[/name_m], [name_u]Leighton[/name_u], [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m], [name_m]Lonan[/name_m], or [name_m]Lowden[/name_m].
I think it’s fine.
