[name_f]My[/name_f] last name starts with an A and a couple of my fave first names start with an A. What are your thoughts on this?
In general, ends-in-A names don’t work that great with vowel start names. Think [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] versus [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]. Or, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_m]Adams[/name_m]. You have to have a little break inhale between the names, compared to something like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_m]Adams[/name_m] or [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]. BUT, starts with A? You should be fine! It’s a matter of personal preference about alliteration! [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_m]Adams[/name_m]? Great. [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] Abrams? Fine. Good luck!
I usually have no issue with first names and surnames starting with the same letter. There are times that the names sound too similar due to other similarities than matching first letters.
I think its just fine!
I think it would be fine! As long as your kids aren’t ALL given names starting with the letter A you would be fine.
It definitely depends on your own personal taste. Alliteration doesn’t bother me at all and it actually helps me remember names better. Here are just some people that I could think of off the top of my head: [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] [name_m]Stone[/name_m], [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Lu[/name_f], [name_m]Ronald[/name_m] [name_m]Reagen[/name_m], [name_f]Farrah[/name_f] Fawcett, [name_f]Keira[/name_f] Knightly. I think all of these names sound great and I think an A - A name probably would too.
Edit: I forgot [name_m]Erik[/name_m] [name_m]Erikson[/name_m], my favorite psychologist!
I like alliteration, but it really must be a matter of personal taste.
Another example would be [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_m]Draper[/name_m], the bold interior design icon.
I love it. [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] sounds so amazing, doesn’t it?
I am a huge fan of alliteration, so I say go for it. Like others mentioned, some of the most memorable figures in history had alliterative names.
I am a big fan of alliteration–I think it helps make the name more memorable and distinctive. That said, there are times when it is a little too cutesy. For example, [name_f]Addy[/name_f] [name_u]Addison[/name_u] might be a little too cutesy, but [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Addison[/name_u] wouldn’t be as much.
I love alliteration so I say go for it!
