First baby - a girl! But, unlike boy names, we need help

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

I’m thrilled we’re having a girl! Someday, I hope she’ll have a brother- [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] - but for now we need to narrow down our options. My challenge is name aversions due to working in a school for the past 10 years. I’m also aware of the popularity of names and really don’t want my daughter to be one of four in her class, like our Sofias, Avas, Ellas, Olivias, and Isabellas are… My husband likes strong, but classic names. I’m a little less consistent. We do have some family names we’re thinking of, but overall, I’m having the hardest timing taking a name I like and thinking its permanent. (I didn’t have that problem with the boy name though!) I would [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] any opinions- please! Our last name is one syllable and starts with Pr…

Our top contenders are:
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - we’d call her [name_u]Cam[/name_u]
[name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - we’d call her [name_f]Viv[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] - it was my great grandmother who I adored
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - I’m concerned about popularity
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] ?
[name_f]Kiera[/name_f]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]

I don’t have middle names for the last three yet.
Please share any thoughts!!!
Thank you

I like [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. [name_u]Reese[/name_u] (Witherspoon), [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] (Knightly), and [name_u]Emery[/name_u] (pronounced like [name_u]Emory[/name_u] board) I’m not wild about.

In terms of popularity, I’ve learned it depends where you live, even for top names. As a teacher, you may have better access to information about your local naming trends than most of us can hope for. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if there’s more than one [name_u]Vivien[/name_u], the family connection gives the name some extra points. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] comes with several nn, so you’ll have plenty of choices if she needs to differentiate herself from classmates.

[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] – [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] this!!! [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is soooo beautiful, and “[name_u]Cam[/name_u]” is such a spunky little nickname. Great combo!
[name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] – Also a great combo, but [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] feels a little “old” to me. [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] is a super cute little nickname though.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] – Yeah, popularity was my first thought too. Very pretty name, but just depends on if you want to combat the popularity.
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] – I know a little girl named [name_u]Reese[/name_u] and she is just adorable. So I have a good association with this name. I did think about having a one syllable first name and a one syllable last name…I don’t know if that would sound good to me. I tend to think those super short names feel incomplete. If I had a one syllable last name, I would choose a longer first name. That’s just me tho.
[name_f]Kiera[/name_f] – This name doesn’t do much for me, I’d skip it.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] – I actually think this name and its derivatives are getting popular ([name_u]Emerson[/name_u] for example). It’s a really cute name tho! Not my favorite from your list, but maybe as a middle…?

Congrats and best of luck! I hope this helped :-p

[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - we’d call her [name_u]Cam[/name_u]- my favorite from your list. Great name and not real common
[name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - we’d call her [name_f]Viv[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] - it was my great grandmother who I adored- cute, but also starting to move up in popularity
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - I’m concerned about popularity- becoming very popular, I’ve been hearing it a lot lately
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] ? - don’t care for this
[name_f]Kiera[/name_f] - ok
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]- don’t care for it

[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] is my favorite choice, but I cringe at the nickname [name_u]Cam[/name_u]. If you are going to call her [name_u]Cam[/name_u], then I would go for [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I adore [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but it is becoming very popular.

[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] and [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] all the way! [name_f]Love[/name_f] these with [name_u]James[/name_u].

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is highly compatible with [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m].

My personal favorite of your contenders is [name_u]Vivien[/name_u].

For some reason [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] reminds me of a soap actress (I have no idea why, honestly), and your final three just aren’t my style. I like [name_u]Vivien[/name_u], though; bonus points for family significance, plus the E spelling evokes classic actress [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u].
I’ve never been a huge fan of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - it is exceptionally popular, plus it has that unfortunate word “harlot” in it.

I like [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], and [name_u]Emery[/name_u] the best. [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is my favorite. It just sounds so regal.

Maybe try these:
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (probably my favorite)

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

My vote goes to [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I normally prefer the [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] spelling, but the family connection is way more important. It’s a strong and beautiful choice. My second choice would be [name_f]Camilla[/name_f].

I completely agree with all of this! [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] is divine though!X

Hmm…
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - I like the name [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] it’s very elegant and sweet. The name works for all ages even my ten year old brother who is currently nosing on nameberry likes this choice haha. [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] it’s effortless. I love the [name_u]Cam[/name_u] nickname, I also like the idea of [name_f]Milla[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], and [name_f]Cammy[/name_f]. [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] has a great flow with the middle name [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. Feels very classic.

[name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - I love family names and any time you have the opportunity to use a meaningful family name you should. [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] is lovely and even though it’s not my favourite spelling it’s still a lovely name especially with [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. A great classic combination.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a lovely name it’s effortless and sweet. I love the [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] nickname!! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a gorgeous name and so is [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but together the combination is very common. I would also worry about the popularity of this combination.

[name_u]Reese[/name_u] - it’s cute and quirky. I prefer as middle name. Maybe [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]?

[name_f]Kiera[/name_f] - It’s a sweet name. The name sounds vibrant and works nicely but to be honest I prefer the [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] is the authentic Irish spelling of this name pronounced exactly the same but the name was anglicised to [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. I’m not keen on anglicised spellings of great names so for me I prefer [name_f]Ciara[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]?

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] - It’s a nice name but not a favourite on the list. Maybe [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]?

: )

[name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is gorgeous! I’d pick it just because it’s gorgeous, but it gets huge bonus points for honoring family. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is my second but [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is more popular than [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] where I’m from and I love [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] as a nickname. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are perfect with [name_u]James[/name_u]. (I also have a little [name_u]James[/name_u] ) Good luck!
