I wouldn’t use [name]Echo[/name] as a first, but it’s not because of the sound, it’s because of the definition o the word and the story of [name]Echo[/name] in Greek mythology. If those things don’t bother you, I say go for it. Kids are called everything these days, a little [name]Echo[/name] isn’t goin to shock anyone. And it is a beautiful sounding word.
I go by my middle half the time, exclusively from I was 10 to 19-ish. It wasn’t a problem. My boyfriend has always gone by his second middle.
I don’t think it matters. [name]How[/name] often will you use her initials anyway? I’ve never seen initials used like that in daily life.
[name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Violetta[/name], [name]Mariette[/name], [name]Imogen[/name]…
I think [name]Echo[/name] as a first name is really sweet, but I would probably still put it as a middle name to stay in keeping with the feel that [name]Sebastian[/name]'s name gives.
I don’t think there’s any point using [name]Echo[/name] as the first name when you’re not going to call her that.
I think it’s sweet that her initials may spell out her brother’s name. Gives them a connection!
Ideas that don’t start with an ‘s’:
[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Cassia[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Amara[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Athena[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Cassandra[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Kathryn[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Maria[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Asteria[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
Isephina [name]Echo[/name]
I think ‘[name]Echo[/name], [name]Echo[/name], [name]Echo[/name]’ at the park etc would be too much (also ‘[name]Echo[/name], repeat after me…’).
[name]Matilda[/name] is lovely and [name]Echo[/name] makes an interesting middle.
[name]Echo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] or [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Echo[/name] are my favorites
I love the idea of [name]Echo[/name] as a first name. [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Echo[/name] make a gorgeous pair.
If [name]Echo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] is going to be called [name]Scarlett[/name] then what’s the point of [name]Echo[/name] being in front? If you want to call her [name]Echo[/name] but go the safe route then [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Echo[/name] makes sense
I don’t think it matters. And who knows if [name]Sebastian[/name] will decide that he prefers being called [name]Bastian[/name] or Bash or just [name]Sebastian[/name] when he’s older?
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Echo[/name]?
what do you think of [name]Echo[/name] as fn
I went through the exact same thing with my hubby! He wanted to name our daughter [name]Echo[/name]. I heavily considered it for awhile, then decided it would be best used as a middle name… [name]Paloma[/name] [name]Echo[/name].
using mn in everyday life ([name]Echo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] on birth certificate, but calling her [name]Scarlett[/name])
Too complicated, just use it as a MN.
thoughts on initials spelling out brothers name, does it matter?
Doesn’t matter at all. In fact, I remember being a little girl and wishing that my initials spelled something so that I could be the cool kid during school ice breakers when that question gets asked.

[name]Echo[/name] is one of my guilty pleasures, it’s a lovely name but would be hard to wear on a daily basis. I know people who go by there middles and it’s usually not too much of a problem, but they will still from time to time be called by there first at the doctors or on the first day of school etc.
Personally I love the combination of [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Echo[/name], and I don’t think it spelling out her brothers name is that bad, you’re never called by your intials… and [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] are fabulous! but if it really bothers you [name]Echo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] would be my next choice.
I don’t like [name]Echo[/name] as a first name. It’s just too out-there for me. You’re totally right that people would probably think you were crazy running around the park yelling “[name]Echo[/name]! [name]Echo[/name]!” If it has special significance to you and your SO, though, put it in the middle. I also don’t really think it’s a problem for your second child’s initials to spell out your first child’s nickname. Kind of cute, actually. Plus, how often does a person use their full name or initials anyway? Probably no one else would make the connection
what do you think of [name]Echo[/name] as fn
[name]Echo[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] sounds really good together, and I think [name]Echo[/name] is really different but not too out there first name. I personally do like it, and I don’t think the “[name]Echo[/name], [name]Echo[/name], [name]Echo[/name]” thing would be too bad.
using mn in everyday life ([name]Echo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] on birth certificate, but calling her [name]Scarlett[/name])
If you are going to do this, I feel like you should just put [name]Scarlett[/name] as her first name. I don’t really understand using a mn as what you call them, when you could just have put that as their first name. That’s just me though.
thoughts on initials spelling out brothers name, does it matter?
I don’t think that matters at all.
first name ideas to go with mn [name]Echo[/name] that don’t begin with ‘S’
[name]Olivia[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Adeline[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Camila[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Diana[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Madeline[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Talia[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
I really like [name]Echo[/name] as a first name. I actually don’t think it works terribly well as a middle name–something about the way the sounds and syllables fall make it kind of disappear under the weight of names like [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name]. (I like both of those, too, btw.) [name]Echo[/name] seems like such a special little name, I like it best right out front:)
Of the four main options you presented, I like [name]Echo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] best. But looking at your “sort of” list, I was thinking [name]Echo[/name] [name]Rose[/name] has a lovely sound.
Good luck!
