First name for middle name Emily

We want to honour my husbands mother by giving our baby girl the middle name [name_f]Emily[/name_f].

The problem is we can’t come up with any first names that go well with it.

So far we have [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. We think it flows very well but we don’t like how popular [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is right now.

Thanks so much in advance!

It would help if you list a couple names you like as well as a couple names your partner likes! There’s thousands of names out there that would go with [name_f]Emily[/name_f]!

You say you like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but don’t like the popularity level. So do you want to stay outside the top 10? Top 50? Top 100? Top 1000?

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]? Similar sound, but very different popularity wise.

Lots of names with 3 syllables ([name_u]Max[/name_u] 4, but I prefer 3) sound lovely with [name_f]Emily[/name_f].

Here are a few of my favorites. Best of luck/congratulations!!!

Ditto to @waverly123’s comments as there is a never ending list of names that sound since with [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. My first focus is always how the first name and last name flow together as that is how she will be known. If you feel comfortable sharing how many syllables and the first letter of your last name, it is helpful making suggestions.

[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]

I second @whitegardenia and @waverly123. Giving us semi-specific popularity parameters and a few name ideas could really help narrow down suggestions, as there are lots of great names that go with Emily! For now, I’ll stick to staying out of the top 10.

Abigail Emily: My very first thought. This name flows wonderfully with Emily, is classic and popular, like Olivia, but is not top ten. Gentle and sweet.
Rosalind Emily: For something a bit more unusual, Rosalind is tailored, flows wonderfully with Emily, and has a lot of history and gravity.
Juliette Emily: A vibrant, strong, vivd option, like Olivia.
Victoria Emily: Maintains the “v” and “o” sounds from Olivia, but isn’t quite as popular. Stately, classic choice.
Alexandra Emily: Yet another classic, and for a reason: Alexandra is regal, with bold, strong sounds.
Norah Emily: Norah is vintage but returning with a vengeance, like Olivia, and has a sweet and simple yet beautiful sound. Mabel Emily is equally gentle, sweet, and flowing.
Scarlett Emily: Like Juliette, lively and spunky.
Aurora Emily: Aurora is modern and evocative, with great sounds. It pairs so well with Emily. Alyssa is another modern beauty that flows very well with Emily.
Georgia Emily: Sweetness and substance in one.
Ariel Emily: Vibrant, modern, and I like that the “l” sounds pick each other up. Another great name with an “l” sound is Isabel (or Isobel/Isabelle/Isabella).
Ivy Emily: Ivy has a “v” and is a classic nature name, like Olivia. It is stylish and timeless. That description also reminds me of Irene.
Eliza Emily: Elizabeth is probably a bit too popular, so what about Eliza? It’s just as classic, though more tailored and spunky. Eliza’s strong “z” reminds me of Olivia’s “v.” Eliza Emily is a great name, and I love the alliteration.
Carys Emily: A beautiful name with a great meaning and the subtle “y” tie.
Adeline Emily: Again with the “l” sound, this rising vintage revival is strong and sweet.

I’m Seconding [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f], I think that’s a nice combo! If you like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but not the popularity, maybe just [name_f]Olive[/name_f]?
