First name Rose

Hello,

What do you think about [name_u]Rose[/name_u] as a First Name? I know it is a very popular middle name! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think this is something to consider? I personally like it but not sure what my daughter will think/feel when she comes to an age that she learns many of her classmates or fellows have this name as their middle names!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think this is an old fashioned m/basic name that should be avoided for a first name?

Thank you all in advance.

I think it’s definitely usable and great as a first name! Its popularity as a middle makes it a sweet surprise as a first!

It totally works as a first name. [name_f]My[/name_f] first name is more common as a middle, and I find a lot of people remember it because it’s their middle name or that of someone they know.

I think it is not widely used as a first name and that it’s elegant and pretty and would age beautifully

I absolutely love it! I don’t think [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is used frequently enough at all as a first name to be basic. It’s so charming. I’m 110% a fan!

I think it is a refreshing classic as a first name! And it’s not old fashioned at all, it’s very much on trend. She’s already pretty widely used as a first name, depending on where you’re from, so nothing out of the ordinary with [name_u]Rose[/name_u]

Totally curious what makes you say this. It’s not an especially uncommon first name, so this is the first time I’ve heard of someone say it’s middle-only territory.

I know a bunch of little [name_u]Rose[/name_u] (under 6) and one in her thirties, I think it’s elegant and beautiful

I just don’t see it ever working as a first name, there is really on one nickname for is and it’s not really a nice nickname.

Oh my gosh just Rose up front is such a magical name :rose:

I absolutely love Rose she’s beautiful one of my favourite names on the planet! If I was to blessed with another daughter I would name her Rose without hesitation. She’s romantic, elegant, has gorgeous imagery surrounding her with flowers, romance, pretty bouquets, ball gowns and antique lace. Rose is lovely I would love to use this name she makes me smile. I think any child would love to be called Rose so I say go for it.

Also Rose can definitely work outside the middle name slot I know lots of Rose’s of many different ages including children under 6 and each time I hear her name she makes me smile. I have a lovely friend K@tie who is (along with Christopher who has now passed) my oldest consistent friend anyways she has two beautiful nieces R0se & Gr@ce they get compliments on their names all the time. I love her nieces names. I get pangs of envy for sure when I hear little children named Rose.

Good to have different views on here - that’s the whole purpose of an advice site :slightly_smiling_face: - but on a practical, everyday reality sense, Rose does work as a first name (ie people understand, engage with, and even like/love the name just as they do other floral/words names - and Rose is one of the most established of the lot). As one eg, actress Rose Byrne decided to drop her first name (Mary) and use her middle, Rose as a first and it’s worked for her! I don’t think Rose needs a nickname but I imagine families and friend groups come up with a range, like Rosie (yes), but also Rosieroo, Roo, Ro, Rosa, Posey etc.
