Thoughts on A FN that ends with S when our LN begins with an S?
I don’t like very many boy names but the few I do kind of like both end in S ([name_u]Brooks[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u]).
Thoughts?

I’m not quite sure how it would sound with your last name, but when I say an example aloud it sounds fine.
Its something that bothers me personally so I try to avoid it because it blends into the last name, but if the only names you like end in s then you should go with what you like regardless.
I think it sounds fine
I don’t think it’s a problem at all.
I think it it would be more important to avoid FNs that end in Sh or Th with a LN starting with S, eg [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] or [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], as the last name sound might come out wrong
We had that issue as well and I love so many names ending in S. I agree with pp that the first name ending with the ‘sh’ sound doesn’t work but just the ‘s’ ending is better. I think you need to try out each one individually as there are some that sound better than others. [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Stanton[/name_m] or [name_m]Marius[/name_m] [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] are fine, IMO, but [name_u]Hayes[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] runs together. I would avoid names ending in the ‘sh’ sound, e.g. [name_m]Nash[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] as that is difficult to say.
It might make it sound like theres just one S.
Brooks [name_m]Smith[/name_m] = [name_u]Brook[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] or [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Sanders[/name_m] = [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Anders[/name_m]
I think this is only a problem in certain circumstances, mainly when it makes one of the names sound like another name.
We also have a last name beginning with an S, so I’ve thought a lot about this. Ultimately we’ve never loved an S ending name enough to use one. But there are some we’ve tried that would totally work. For example, [name_m]Silas[/name_m] Svr- is how that name would work with our name, and I think the flow is fine!
