My husband and I are expecting our first child. We are taking the surprise route with gender - providing I hold out!! Because of this, I am hoping we have ‘selected’ names for both a boy and a girl prior to the birth.
We have absolutely no idea about a first name for a boy. My husband really likes [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. While I am not keen on it as a first name, I am more than happy with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] as a middle name.
What names go with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]? I am not completely sure what our ‘style’ is for boys first names – just nothing out there, and not a contemporary name that does not seem like a name (i.e. [name_u]Cruz[/name_u], [name_m]Holden[/name_m], [name_u]River[/name_u]).
Well, my first idea was Marinus [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], so maybe that doesn’t really fit your style? It is a legitimate name–with a fairly solid ranking in the Netherlands–but it seems to sort of fit into the category of names like [name_u]Cruz[/name_u], [name_m]Holden[/name_m], and [name_u]River[/name_u]. Although maybe not, since that -us ending seems pretty ancient! I’m fairly sure it’s an ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] family name, the masculine form of [name_f]Marina[/name_f]. I think it’s incredibly cool, and I love [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] with it, but I can respectfully retract that suggestion.
I suggest classical names like [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] or [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
Classic/traditional names are probably more our style. For instance, if we have a girl, her name will most likely be one of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. She will be given two middle names for family reasons. At this stage, we are only thinking of one middle name for a son. But, [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is really hard to pair with…anything!
We both really like the names [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m]/[name_m]Henrik[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], but do not think any of them flow well with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] sound ok but neither of these grab us. Sorry to be such a downer! Please keep the suggestions coming.
