I think it can be really striking. In general, I wouldn’t, but it depends.

There’s not a problem with it, as long as they’re not super matchy, like [name]Danielle[/name] Danielson or [name]Forrest[/name] [name]Foster[/name].

Yes yes yes!! My son’s name has the same first and last initial. I love the way it sounds. I agree with pps, though that if it’s too matchy, it’s a little weird. Like [name]Phillip[/name] [name]Phillips[/name] — eh, no. But if it’s done well, it can give a name a very impressive sound. [name]Stephen[/name] Sondheim, [name]Greta[/name] [name]Garbo[/name], [name]Sam[/name] Spade (fictional, obviously), [name]Marilyn[/name] [name]Monroe[/name] (real person, created name), [name]Ronald[/name] [name]Reagan[/name] … I know there are tons more, but those are the only ones that come to mind immediately. I’m a huge fan of alliterative names.

I sure hope they’re okay! My all-time favorite girls name is [name]Nora[/name], hands-down. But my boyfriend’s last name starts with N and is one syllable. I’m hoping that everything will work if we ever use that name!

we have one in our family (CC) and a nephew who is CC too. I love the alliteration.

I’m also a fan of alliteration when it’s done correctly.

My son’s first and last names have the same initial and we really love his full name. I wouldn’t use his first initial for any other children we may have because multiple kids with everyone sharing the same first and last initials is way too much for me. Alliteration can be so wonderful and really give a name something extra special.

I tend to really like it. It makes your name sound both whimsical and important, like a superhero alias. ([name]Bruce[/name] [name]Banner[/name], [name]Peter[/name] [name]Parker[/name], [name]Clark[/name] [name]Kent[/name], even [name]Lex[/name] [name]Luthor[/name].)

I’m surprised there wasn’t an option for: I love matching first and last initials! Has anyone noticed that all four of the girls on Girls have names with matching first and last initial? And a lot of celebrities do…

I love it! As long as the the rest of the names, beyond the first letter, are different from each other. My son’s initials are L.L. and it’s great. Names that are alliterative are easier to remember and imo sound great.

I usually like it actually.

Sometimes it can be a bit too jokey, but I think it can work well.

Totally do able!!
As long as it isn’t matchy (like [name]John[/name] [name]Johnston[/name])

I grew up with both initials the same, and it never occurred to me that this was potentially frowned upon until I joined nameberry at age 30. It obviously was never an issue and I never disliked my name because of it. If anything, I liked my name more because of it!

Yes! My son is an MM  Although if my husband had his way all our children would have MM initials but no just the one … and we both have CM initials lol

I love alliteration names! I just can’t find any to go with our surname! :frowning:

I think they work in some cases, but not in others.

My friend’s dad has a name similar to [name]William[/name] [name]Walker[/name], but his brother is similar to [name]Walter[/name] [name]Walker[/name], and that’s too much for me!
