First Time Posting: I Need Help With Twin Girl Names

I am having twin girls this [name_f]October[/name_f]. I have a 17month old daughter named [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u]. I adore her name. It’s sentimental/family name yet fits her so well with her red hair. I am having a hard time pinning down my twin girls names. I have always loved the name [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] but can not think of another name to go with it. For my “twin” names I love:
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] but my husband is leaning to more floral names because our eldest is named [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] so:
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] I love but having a hard time with the other maybe [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. Would you leave the flowers alone and keep your oldest name special in that way? As you can see I am all over the place and would appreciate your opinions and insight. Thanks in advance!!

I don’t think that Poppy’s name would be any less special just because her sisters have flower names also, however, I do think that should you only choose one flower name for the twins, the other would feel left out of the theme. I usually don’t have a big problem with that (I’d use Rose, Alice & Flora) but with two children born at the same time, the non-theme name does stick out.

Fwiw, I do love Eloise and Georgia with Poppy, they’d make adorable twins and siblings. Maybe Eloise Rosemary & Georgia Marigold? You’d have the flower connection to the older sister and as Rosemary and Marigold share the “mari” sound (which is why I wouldn’t choose both as firstnames) that’d be a lovely connection for the twins without being too matchy.
And even though I personally wouldn’t leave one girl out of the theme, I think Poppy, Eloise & Marigold would be lovely.
I also like Virginia and Rosemary together but they seem a lot more mature and older (vintage) than Poppy, which I view as a sophisticated but quirky name.

I think with Rosemary, my “problem” is, that I view it rather as a vintage name than a flower name, so finding a flower name that has the same vibe (to me), I find difficult. However, that “problem” also makes it easier to pair with non-flower names without the non-flower name feeling obviously left out of the theme.

Some ideas:
Poppy, Eloise & Florence/Flora (somewhat of a flower name but as it isn’t the name of a flower, it wouldn’t leave Eloise out)
Poppy, Eloise & Matilda (all three have the same quirky yet elegant vibe)
Poppy, Eloise & Clementine (has the same bubbly vibe, is a nature name but doesn’t leave Eloise out)
Poppy, Eloise & Clara (a bit more toned-down but also lovely)
Poppy, Eloise & Nora (as above)
Poppy, Eloise & Iris // Poppy, Marigold & Iris // Poppy, Iris & Rosemary (Iris would be wonderful in all three sets)
Poppy, Eloise & Josephine // Poppy, Josephine & Rosemary (Josephine has the quirkyness of Poppy and the sophisticated feel of Rosemary)
Poppy, Eloise & Violet // Poppy, Violet & Rosemary (a flower name that doesn’t directly make you think of the flower and therefore would be wonderful in the first set // definitely more flower-y in the second set but they are lovely together)

A few ways you can keep the floral theme.

All ending in y. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and… [name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and…

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] (both twins would have [name_f]Mary[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f])
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] (rose in both twin names, plus common p initial with older sister)
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

My favorites combos are:
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Fern[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] would be fine being the only little miss named after a flower! I don’t think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] have the same spunky and sweet vibe as [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. My opinion would be to go with names you love (regardless of flower association) or names with the same feel as [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I really adore the name [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]; good twin names to go with [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]: [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (has the feel as [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]), [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I think it would be apparent that you were trying hard to keep the floral theme, unless they’re names you truly adore. If you love [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], then use them! Let me know what you think! Good luck

If you don’t want floral related names and want to use [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], I like:

  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] and [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Neve[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]Reeve[/name_u]

If you want the floral connection I really like:

  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] and [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] [name_f]Liv[/name_f]

Thanks so much for the above input! It’s really appreciated. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] I do love together and never have thought of them as a pair! My husband was worried about having two state names but honestly I could care less. [name_f]Flower[/name_f] names are not that big of a deal to me because [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] was not necessarily named after the flower. My mother in law’s name is [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and has never liked her name. She goes by [name_f]Vi[/name_f] so that one is out for us. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] I love but we have way too many in our lives. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is another name I could go with. Growing up I remember babysitting a baby with that name and thought it was lovely. I do live in the south so a good double name is also appreciated😉 Thanks again for your insight it’s so helpful

I love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]!!

So excited for you @garrettsr,

Your name prospects are lovely.

To me, [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]‘s sisters’ names should be as similarly cute and happy as possible {i.e. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]}.

Another name you might like: [name_f]Clover[/name_f].

Ditto. These are SO lovely together.

I like the suggestion of [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] too but my daughters best friend has that name so that won’t work.

Awwww, love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I love [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]!!! I like the spunky, vintage nature of poppy & [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], and don’t necessarily think all flower names is the direction I would go. [name_m]How[/name_m] about?

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]…

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] & [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] together.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u],[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u], [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] [name_f]Myra[/name_f], [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] are gorgeous together!

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] strikes me as being fresh and quirky… I think it would be fun to play with some unexpected combinations, like…

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] and [name_u]Kay[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

As [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is so short and sweet, I think it would fit in much better with flower names like [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], than longer names like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. Personally, I would probably steer away from flower names for the twins. They are beautiful, but it may be a little too much. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is a great name, but [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] might be a little too much, like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] go together wonderfully, and if you both like the name, then I would suggest something just as beautiful and delicate (but not too precious!) for the other twin, like:

  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] - You love both names, and they go beautifully together, so it seems like an easy pick!
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (it’s a much longer name but as it only has three syllables like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], it doesn’t feel too long).
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (technically not a flower name, so it doesn’t have such an obvious connection).
  • [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

All the best and good luck with your twins!

I really like sisters’ names with a theme that connects them.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

I really like sisters’ names with a theme that connects them.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

Personally all floral names is just a bit much. My personal opinion only!
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] to me is a fun and preppy name which matches more with [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] then with [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. Gorgeous sisters.

Perhaps a floral middle name is a more subtle connection. Or a name with a floral meaning.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] don’t seem to go together perfectly, to me. One is an English word name that has some flair, and the other sounds sort of [name_m]French[/name_m] and conservative. Together, they also sound more trendy than anything. I’d put [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] in a middle spot.

I love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] sound like such beautiful names for twins, and I think they bring out the timeless sweetness of [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], rather than its trendy, spunky quality. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] would be truly stunning names.

After that, I think that [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] would also be wonderful names for sisters. Maybe [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]?

I don’t recommend [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] together because they both contain mary/mari. I wouldn’t use [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] either because they’re both states, while [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is obviously not.

Some middle name suggestions:
