I’ve seen at least one birth announcement on Instagram where it was used as a middle name. I don’t know if it’s ever been used as a first, but I hope not. It just makes me think of violence.

I hate my name too (Tiffany) I was always called [name_u]Theo[/name_u] as a kid, and being a tomboy I’m livid they didn’t use that instead. Could have been worse though, I was nearly [name_f]Fabienne[/name_f] from Yorkshire… if you know the accent that’s not good

I don’t know that I have five, but someone else mentioned word names with bad connotations and that’s definitely one of mine. I’m also generally not a huge fan of multiple middle names— though I don’t mind when others do it— or most nickname names (though there are some exceptions).

I think there’s a difference between using a name from your own culture and using a name from a different culture and not pronouncing it correctly. If I, for example, decided to use Eithne but, instead of using the Irish pronunciation, decided to pronounce it eyth-nuh. Or someone without a French background (or understanding of the language) using the French spelling of Pénélope but still pronouncing it the same as Penelope.
Edit: the latter example would be totally fine for French speakers who lived in an English-speaking country but wanted the name to work in French as well.

Ahhh yes yes I completely agree, I guess I might’ve read it in the wrong way. Excuse me, I read it as in a “using names that I can’t say easily” way (I read it as a general you)
