I forgot Cress, Carnation, Vervain, and Mint as well.

Calluna is on my favourites list. It’s the botanical name for heather.

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce Bergenia? I’ve never heard it before.

I never know. I think I say a hard g, but I could be wrong.

I think that Larkspur is the nicest in the poll list.

I also like myosotis’ suggestion of Calluna.

Lantana’s pretty, but it is a noxious weed- a very big problem in Australia, it would certainly get a LOT of weird looks here for that reason. Nandina is lovely.

Other suggestions:
Delphinium, Anthurium, Amaranthus, Alstroemeria, Eremurus, Gerbera, Heliconia, Hydrangea, Larkspur, Liatris, Limonium, Lisianthus, Poinsettia, Statice, Stephanotis, Viburnum, Sunflower, Foxglove, Malva, Acanthus, Ajuga, Allium, Alyssum, Anagellis, Monelli, Angelonia, Baptisia, Monarda, Bessera, Bromeliad, Calamintha, Camassia, Camomile, Canna, Cercis, Catalpa, Celosia, Columbiana, Cleome, Lutea, Dianthus, Echinacea, Myosotis, Gazania, Geum, Lenten, Heliotrope, Hibiscus, Hosta, Alcea, Hollyhock, Vine, Leonotis, Lunaria, Liriope, Lupine, Mahonia, Caltha, Moonflower, Nicandra, Oleander, Penta, Starflower, Vinca, Periwinkle, Phlox, Ruellia, Salvia, Senecio, Snowflake, Strelitzia, Tiarella, Cordifolia, Tillandsia, Valerian.

Interesting. In Northern [name_u]California[/name_u], it seems to be more a of a pretty (though rough to the touch) garden flower.

Yes, Nandina is lovely! And a very nice shrub, with year-round interest (berries, colored leaves, etc.).

I love your ideas of Delphinium, Hydrangea, Poinsettia, Catalpa, Celosia, Gazania, Hollyhock, and [name_m]Valerian[/name_m]!
