Floralie

I’m currently loving Floralie! It’s not on Nameberry or any other name sites (that I’ve seen) so obviously quite rare. I first heard the name from the kid’s book “The Flourishing of Floralie [name_f]Laurel[/name_f].” I think of a little girl in a whimsical flower field - like “twirly” and “floral.” So, thoughts on the name Floralie? Nicknames? Middle names? Spelling? Does it not sound like a real name? Any and all thoughts appreciated!

I had Floralie [name_u]Rae[/name_u] on my user card and I replaced it with [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] nn Floralie. I really like it and I prefer it over the spelling Floraly or Floraleigh. In terms of nicknames you could do the opposite that I’ve done so Floralie nn [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. I had a comment that it sounded too frilly and made up, like a combination of [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and with the same feel as Briarleigh, [name_f]Wrenley[/name_f] etc. But I quite like the floral, fairy vibes of Floralie!

I like Floralie, although i do kind of just heard florally (not a word, but it does sound like one). There was actually a member a couple years ago with a little Floralie. It sounds like a real name to me and I would definitely spell it like this. Sounds like a mix of [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to me.

Flossie
[name_f]Florrie[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Lolly[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_m]Rolly[/name_m]
[name_f]Lori[/name_f]
[name_f]Flo[/name_f]

Floralie [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
Floralie [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
Floralie [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Floralie [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

Thanks, I like Floralie [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. And I believe the character in the book is Floralie [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

If [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] was a flower

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous, but I’d use it as a middle name of an established name only just because I can’t see it aging very well. What about:
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] Floralie
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] Floralie

Some alternatives:
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] “[name_f]Florrie[/name_f]”
[name_f]Flossie[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] (as a middle name + first name or hyphenated name)
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u]

Lorelei has a similar sound, do you like that?

Floralie is gorgeous

Floralie [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Floralie [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
Floralie [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
Floralie [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
Floralie [name_f]Amber[/name_f]
Floralie [name_u]Dell[/name_u]
Floralie [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
Floralie [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
Floralie [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]

I find it hard to say for some reason.

Floralie isn’t my style but I like it. For some reason, it does remind me of the word “fluoride”? I think it’s sweet and definitely sounds like a children’s book character, in a lovely and whimsical sort of way.

Floralie is pretty! Because it’s so unusual, I would be more likely to use it as a middle name, but it is sweet!

Floralie is absolutely beautiful! I’m just going to add that one to my list…

Floralie is lovely! Maybe [name_f]Florrie[/name_f], [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] or [name_f]Flora[/name_f] for nicknames?

I actually really like it! So whimsical!

Coralie and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are two of my favorites, so I like Floralie too, although I hadn’t heard of it before! I do find it slightly harder to pronounce. I can’t necessarily picture it on an adult either, but I can imagine the adult choosing to go by [name_f]Flora[/name_f] in official situations if she preferred.

It makes me think of fleur-de-lys. Other than that, I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it. It just doesn’t sound as natural to me as [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], maybe a bit over-the-top? I don’t think it’s unusable, by any means, but I don’t think it’s my cup of tea.
