Florence, Flora or Florrie?

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] has been a staple on my list forever, but I also adore [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Florrie[/name_f]. I know that if I had a [name_f]Florence[/name_f], I’d likely want to call her [name_f]Florence[/name_f] most of the time, and I’m a big fan of just using the name I intend to call them by on the birth certificate - but this one is tricky for me.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f] or [name_f]Florrie[/name_f]?

Thank you!

I think [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is your best bet. Although I love [name_f]Florrie[/name_f], I think as a full name they would constantly be asked if it was short for anything and that could get annoying. They could always go by [name_f]Florrie[/name_f] themselves if they like that better.

Love [name_f]Florence[/name_f], I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Flora[/name_f] but it’s a nice name. [name_f]Florrie[/name_f] is definitely a no from me as I associate it too much McFlurry (I’m addicted!)

I voted [name_f]Florence[/name_f] which is my second choice, but I meant to vote for [name_f]Flora[/name_f] which is one of my favorites  They’re both lovely but [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is just the slightest bit easier to roll off the tongue

Flora is my personal favorite, but I do think [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is just so you. [name_f]Florrie[/name_f] is cute, but I think only as a nn.

I feel the same. I love [name_f]Florrie[/name_f], but you could use that with either long form, so you’d be getting the best of both works. There’s alway the option as well of having a [name_f]Florence[/name_f] who you call both [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Florrie[/name_f] on occasion since you’d be calling her [name_f]Florence[/name_f] most of the time.

I love both [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. I would be tempted to use [name_f]Flora[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Florence[/name_f], even though they are different names.

Thank you! I do agree that [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is probably the most me - maybe because I’ve considered it for so long?? I ADORE [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] as a nn option @greentiger!! [name_f]My[/name_f] great-grandmother was actually named [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] (I lucked out - my great grandmothers were [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Flossie[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] - all names I love!), so that would be a sweet option.

I suppose [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is likely the best of both worlds though, as I’d get [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Florrie[/name_f], [name_f]Flossie[/name_f], etc. from that. I always thought I’d want to use their birth name 99% of the time, but I mean, I’ve had a kitten for a week now and he goes by about 7 different nicknames, so I think I’ve proven myself wrong there! :joy:

Hard relate. I chose “unnicknameable” names and now just call all my children a series of random pet names instead :expressionless:

I always swore I’d only do the name I gave them, but JD’s full name is [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], and he gets [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], JD, Dr. [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], Fuzzball, Floof, [name_u]Baby[/name_u], etc. etc. etc. S/O is quite surprised at me because this is how he usually is, but not me, lol. I refused to call our niece by her nickname forever unless she asked me to (she never did) because it’s not her name :woman_shrugging:

ETA: Also, S/O sometimes calls him Newbie, like Dr. Cox did on the show, and I call him Bambi occasionally, like Carla’s pet name for JD :stuck_out_tongue: Too. Many. Nicknames.

Tough choice because i love both [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] but I think I’ll have to go with [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. It’s just special! It has grandeur and an understated elegance

Okay. I love [name_f]Flora[/name_f] sooo much…

Florence: is an elegant classic. Not very popular where I live- (I live in :canada:) so it’s rather unpopular here

Flora: I just… love this name.

Florrie: It seems to nicknamey, imo.

I love [name_f]Florence[/name_f] for you!
