Thoughts on Florence and with the names like Odessa and Indira .. does it seem less grand ?

Inspired by another naming post I saw :sob::purple_heart:

I do love [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- elegant but understated, botanical but not wordy and one that feels pretty but strong.

I do think it feels quite different to [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- they have boldness and flair, strong, distinctive sounds, unexpectedness without being totally unheard of and an air of adventure around them? [name_f]Florence[/name_f] on the other hand feels vintage, safe, and popular. I will say that is my UK perspective, however, where [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is in the Top 10 [name_f][/name_f]- so for a US equivalent, it feels like [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], [name_f]Indira[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] to me, of [name_f]Indira[/name_f], [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], and [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f], if that makes sense

Still, I don’t think they’re bad together [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Florence[/name_f] does hold its own and has good associations and a touch of arty-ness elegance like [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Indira[/name_f]. Plus, its fine to have names of different styles on your list :person_shrugging:

In terms of the middles, [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is a lovely combo [name_f][/name_f]- bright and musical [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f][/name_f] but if you want it to “go” in a sibset with with [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], I’d go for a bolder, maybe mythological middle myself. Maybe [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Demetria[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Atalanta[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Kallista[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Valkyrie[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]

I love the nn [name_f]Cece[/name_f] for [name_f]Florence[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] It’s inspired.

I’m not generally the biggest [name_f]Florence[/name_f] fan, but I do like it for you here; [name_f]Florence[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cece[/name_f] is great and I can especially see it working with [name_f]Odessa[/name_f]? [name_f][/name_f] If not [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], then surely [name_f]Odile[/name_f] or [name_f]Odette[/name_f].

For me, [name_f]Indira[/name_f] is the one that sticks out, since [name_f]Florence[/name_f] & [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] are European city names [name_f][/name_f]- and because of that they almost feel too matchy to me? [name_f][/name_f] I do like each name individually, but I don’t know that I’m feeling them together. [name_f][/name_f] Then again my own list is very eclectic and I don’t think that’s a bad thing!
