Is [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] cute on it’s own or does it need [name_u]Florence[/name_u] to back it up? Is it to much? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think somone could carry the name to adulthood? I think it’s cute in theory but could it truly work in the real would? Sorry, I know these are lot of questions haha.
I don’t usually say this about nicknames, but I think [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] is one that should ideally have a full name. Not only because it’s a little cutesy sounding, but because it has a lot of potential to be made fun of (due to teeth flossing as well as the fortnite dance), and I feel like having a full name to back it up might offset that a little and allow them to go by something else if they so choose.
I personally like [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] better on it’s own than with [name_u]Florence[/name_u]. Yes, it’s cute and nickname-y, but
so are a bunch of other nickname names, and I think it can work on an adult as well as a child. And if the person who’s named [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] thinks it’s too childish, they can always shorten it to [name_f]Flo[/name_f].
I this it could work While personally I would do [name_u]Florence[/name_u] ‘Flossie’ - mostly because I love [name_u]Florence[/name_u] and the options it gives - I don’t think [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] is insubstantial.
I do know a little girl whose full name is [name_f]Flossie[/name_f], so it definitely could work. Personally though, I think it is one of the few nickname names that would be better off with a full name to fall back on.
I think its a lovely nickname, but definitely needs [name_u]Florence[/name_u] (or another!)
It’s cute on a kid or a grandma, but I doubt anyone in between would want it to be their full time, full name.
[name_f]Flossie[/name_f] is cute!
it’s the nickname a swimming teacher once gave me (and then my dad stole it ) and my name isn’t anywhere near [name_u]Florence[/name_u] lol
I actually know a [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] and it’s her full name. It works perfectly well for her.
Agreed. I want to like it on it’s own but these are the first things I think of so I think it needs a full name.
+1
Adorable, but I’d prefer it as a nickname because of this ‘ teeth flossing’ thing.
I do think [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] is a perfectly fine name in it’s own right if someone chooses it or embraces it for themselves. Normally I’m all about “nicknames” being used as full names but [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] does seem to be extra cute, ultra (becoming archaically?) fem and - this seems to be just me going by the replies so far - a great name for a gorgeous, floofy dog! For these reasons I’d go for another name that could generate the lovely [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] if desired.
I think [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] can work!
I live in the land of nicknames so [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] would definitely fit in with the likes of [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], [name_u]Alfie[/name_u], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] + [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] all of which are used very commonly as standalone names here in the UK. All these children will grow up become adults so your [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] will not stand out amongst the crowd with peers called [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. Personally I do prefer [name_u]Florence[/name_u] with the nickname [name_f]Flossie[/name_f] just because I love [name_u]Florence[/name_u] but I think the name works so go for it.
I think it can work, but I’d use [name_u]Florence[/name_u] as a full name.
