Flower Name for Baby Girl Number 6!

[name]Hi[/name] everyone, my name is [name]Savannah[/name] (though I’m [name]Annah[/name] most of the time) and my husband [name]Jeff[/name] and I are expecting our sixth daughter in just a few months. We have been looking for the perfect flower name for her, as her sisters all have flower names as well. We hadn’t even realized we’d started a trend until our third! Anyway, we’re hoping for a nice, simple name that won’t make it look as if she was named just to fit into a group of names, if you know what I’m saying.

Here are our other daughters’ names:

[name]Rose[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] (14)
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] (12)
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (9)
[name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] (5)
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] (3)

And here is our list of names for our little girl! Hopefully, we’ll be able to decide on a first name and then move on to a middle.

[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Azalea[/name] (too similar to [name]Dahlia[/name]?)
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] nn [name]Mari[/name]
[name]Daffodil[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Lavender[/name]

I wish we could use [name]Freesia[/name], but I’m afraid it’s a little bit more flower than name. I also wish we could use [name]Lilac[/name], but it’s too close to [name]Lily[/name].

Another question - would [name]Fleur[/name] be alright to use? I wouldn’t want her sisters to feel left out if they all had flower names and their little sister was actually called flower.

Thanks again,

[name]Annah[/name] & [name]Jeff[/name] & the girls.

[name]Hi[/name]!! I like [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Marigold[/name], but you could also use [name]Magnolia[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name] or [name]Nola[/name] or [name]Lia[/name]. And I would consider not using [name]Ivy[/name] because it also begins with I, like [name]Iris[/name], but it wouldn’t be the determining factor for me.

I personally wouldn’t use [name]Lavender[/name], because it is a similar colour to [name]Violet[/name] (like both purple colours?), and [name]Willow[/name] is a tree in my mind, which doesn’t fit in with your flower theme.

I think all of your names are GORGEOUS!

Good luck!!

I actually love the name [name]Freesia[/name]! You could call her [name]Free[/name] for short. Very cute. Or what about…

[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Bryony[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
Dandelion (a little out there, I know.)
[name]Rowan[/name] (well, it’s a tree…)
[name]Posey[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Heather[/name]
[name]Jasmine[/name]
[name]Amaryllis[/name]
[name]Jacinta[/name] (Spanish for [name]Hyacinth[/name])
Celandine
[name]Aster[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Peony[/name]
[name]Tulip[/name]
Gypsophila ([name]Baby[/name]'s breath)
[name]Ginger[/name]
[name]Gardenia[/name]
[name]Orchid[/name]
[name]Shasta[/name] (daisy)
[name]Susan[/name]
[name]Acacia[/name]
[name]Camellia[/name]
[name]Laelia[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name]
Gladiola

I bet all your girl’s love their names! [name]Do[/name] you have any boys, if I may ask?

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Annah[/name]!

[name]Love[/name] the theme! You’ve got such classic flower names with [name]Rose[/name], [name]Lily[/name], and [name]Violet[/name], then Miss [name]Dahlia[/name] gets a bit more bold, then you return to the vintage theme for [name]Iris[/name]. Beautiful! I did notice that you’ve got two three-syllable first names ([name]Violet[/name] and [name]Dahlia[/name]), two two-syllable first names ([name]Lily[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]), and just one one-syllable first name ([name]Rose[/name]) - thus, I thought another one-syllable flower name would be ideal for baby girl #6!

Seems that one-syllable flower names, excepting [name]Rose[/name], are a bit hard to come by. I like [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name] off of your list, but I think something like [name]Poppy[/name] or [name]Zinnia[/name] or [name]Flora[/name] would be pretty, too. I noticed you mentioned [name]Fleur[/name], which I adore because it is slightly more exotic, like [name]Dahlia[/name], and it provides you with a one-syllable first name to “complete the set,” so to speak, though I have no idea if you plan on more children. I don’t think it is at all odd that [name]Little[/name] [name]Fleur[/name] would literally be named “flower,” whereas her sisters have flower names. Another I thought of was [name]Fern[/name] - maybe not quite as overtly “flower” as her sisters, but I think it is distinguished and sweet, and it always reminds me of [name]Charlotte[/name]'s [name]Web[/name]! So cute!

[name]Rose[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] (14)
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] (12)
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (9)
[name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] (5)
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] (3)

As for middle names for baby girl #6, you’ve got three three-syllable middle names ([name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], and [name]Vivienne[/name]), but just two four-syllable middle names ([name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]). [name]Do[/name] you want to use another four-syllable name, then? Each name is incredibly feminine and classic, as well - so pretty! Not sure if you knew this, but you’ve also got two Greek middle names ([name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Katherine[/name]) and two French middle names ([name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name]), yet just one Hebrew middle name ([name]Elizabeth[/name]) - maybe a Hebrew name could work for you this time, too! Yes, I know, I am a sucker for balance…

I’m tempted to suggest [name]Seraphina[/name], a Hebrew name meaning “ardent and fiery,” for baby girl #6’s middle name, as I think it compliments the feminine, elegant theme you have going now. I notice that none of your other middle names end in A, but who cares, right?

So, do either [name]Fleur[/name] [name]Seraphina[/name] - gorgeous! - or [name]Fern[/name] [name]Seraphina[/name] - might need a new middle name, maybe [name]Fern[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]? - appeal to you?

Good luck!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Savannah[/name]

I just love the name [name]Fleur[/name], you have a French flavour with your names so it fits and I would go with [name]Jessamine[/name] [name]Fleur[/name].

[name]Jessamine[/name] is so sweet and would match her sisters without being overly flowery.

[name]Hi[/name] – I really like [name]Willow[/name]!

Fun family! I bet the girls love their flower fairy names. I was thinking [name]Poppy[/name] for a more modern, spunky spirit. Or [name]Camelia[/name]/[name]Camille[/name] for more tradional, graceful feel.

I think of [name]Ivy[/name] as a vine, not a flower. Same with [name]Willow[/name]. It’s a tree, not a flower. I do think [name]Azalea[/name] is too close to [name]Dahlia[/name]. I think both [name]Daisy[/name] and [name]Daffodil[/name] sound like they’re just there to fit with the group. I agree with a previous poster about [name]Lavender[/name]. Too close to [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Marigold[/name] nn [name]Mari[/name] is super cute, but I don’t think it quite fits with your sib-set. It might work, though.

Okay. Criticism over. [name]Sage[/name] was a good suggestion. I think [name]Poppy[/name] would work, as well. [name]Calla[/name] is fantastic! [name]Fleur[/name], however, is my favorite. I think it fits the best with your other names. And, as [name]Lemon[/name] pointed out, it completes your set syllable-wise. I don’t think the fact that it simply means “flower” should matter.

I could not believe my eyes when I read that you are considering [name]Freesia[/name]. [name]Just[/name] the other day I saw that word on a perfume bottle and thought it would make a great name!

My absolute favorites are [name]Fleur[/name] and [name]Calla[/name]. I just now thought though, [name]Calla[/name] [name]Lily[/name] is the actual name of the flower, and you already have a [name]Lily[/name]. Would that be a problem? If it is, then I think [name]Fleur[/name], [name]Sage[/name] and [name]Poppy[/name] are your best options. They are all fantastic with your other names.

[name]Love[/name] your girls’ names! Good luck!

[name]Magnolia[/name] is my favorite flower name. The nns [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Nola[/name] are both nice.

Another possibility is [name]Jonquil[/name] nn Quil

I found a few more to add to the on going lists of floral names.

1.[name]Jonquil[/name] -I adore this flower name for some reason. This flower is one of the birth flowers for the month of [name]March[/name] (with [name]Daffodil[/name] being the other)

  1. Alyssum -This reminds me of the sweetness of [name]Alyssa[/name] with the spunkiness of [name]Tatum[/name]. This flower comes in a variety of colors, but mostly in shades of lavender.

  2. [name]Amarantha[/name]- From the amaranth flower, I love its similarity in sound to the popular [name]Samantha[/name]

  3. [name]Holly[/name] - a [name]Christmas[/name] favorite

  4. [name]Zinnia[/name] -very eccentric & bold in my opinion. A member of the aster flower family. Named for [name]Johann[/name] [name]Gottfried[/name] Zinn.

  5. Randia - not exactly a flower, but definitely a plant! It is also known as the indigoberry. I had a student with this name. She pronounced it ran DYE uh, but the plant is pronounced [name]RAN[/name] dee uh.

Congrats on baby girl # 6. Whatever name you choose, I’m sure will be just as beautiful as she will be.

I love the suggestion of [name]Bryony[/name]. not a flower, but you have some non flower names on your list as well. I also think that [name]Linnea[/name] would work nicely with your girls’ names.

Oh! I forgot [name]Jessamine[/name]! I can’t believe I forgot [name]Jessamine[/name]!

If you really want to keep the names simple I agree with [name]Daisy[/name] most, my friends sister is named [name]Daisy[/name] and it really is a great name!

I love the suggestion of [name]Linnea[/name] - such a beautiful, unusual name and to me, it doesn’t seem like she was named that just to fit the pattern. I also happen to love the name [name]Saffron[/name], but I don’t know if it is something you would like.

[name]Rose[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] (14)
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] (12)
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (9)
[name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] (5)
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] (3)

Your daughters’ have such wonderful names! I especially love [name]Lily[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]!

[name]Ivy[/name] - this is too much a plant to me, plus it’s got the same i-beginning as [name]Iris[/name].
[name]Azalea[/name] (too similar to [name]Dahlia[/name]?) - not a huge fan of [name]Azalea[/name].
[name]Daisy[/name] - cute! But it has the same beginning as [name]Dahlia[/name].
[name]Marigold[/name] nn [name]Mari[/name] - I think [name]Marigold[/name] nn [name]Mari[/name] is so adorable!
[name]Daffodil[/name] - maybe a little to “out-there” but it could work as you have [name]Dahlia[/name].
[name]Willow[/name] - not a flower.
[name]Lavender[/name] - I think this is cute! But again, has the same beginning as [name]Lily[/name].
[name]Fleur[/name] - love [name]Fleur[/name], but it might be a little odd one out if she is literally named “[name]Flower[/name]” and her sisters have flower names. It is super pretty though.

[name]Magnolia[/name] is another one people have already mentioned which I adore. It would fit perfectly.

I really love that you have such classic middles too. I’ll throw out some suggestions…

[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Cecelia[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Emily[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]

[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Amy[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Frances[/name]

[name]Daisy[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name] [name]Helena[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]

[name]Lavender[/name] [name]Diana[/name]
[name]Lavender[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Lavender[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]

[name]Marguerite[/name] is French for [name]Daisy[/name], which is why [name]Daisy[/name] is a nn for [name]Margaret[/name].

I love your girls names! I totally understand you wanting your babies name to fit in but not seem like you had to make it fit in. First off all the options you listed are very nice. Personally I would not go with [name]Lavender[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Ivy[/name] or [name]Daffodil[/name] as you already have names starting w D, L and I. And Yes, [name]Azalea[/name] sounds too similar to [name]Dahlia[/name]. As other posters have pointed out [name]Willow[/name] is not a flower and i feel this name is more modern trendy than the classic floral names your daughters have. Below are the names I feel work best

[name]Marigold[/name] nn [name]Mari[/name]- this is a flower name but not an obvious one and it fits in very well.
[name]Magnolia[/name] nn [name]Nola[/name] or [name]MAggie[/name]- This has same appeal as [name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name] nn [name]Daisy[/name]- I feel that daisy on its own in not as sophisticated as your other daughters names

I agree with [name]Lemon[/name] [name]Seraphina[/name] is a good middle name as is [name]Delphina[/name].

I really love flower names and the ones you’ve chosen are among my favorites! The middle names are splendid as well.
Of your list, I would scratch off [name]Ivy[/name] because it shares [name]Iris[/name]'s long ‘i’ in the beginning and I think of Poison [name]Ivy[/name] more than the actual vine (and that’s another thing. It’s a vine, not a flower) :frowning: [name]Azalea[/name] is unfortunately too close to [name]Dahlia[/name]. [name]Daisy[/name] seems a little abrupt in the classic names of your daughters and almost seems as if you were trying to hard to fit the pattern: it also shares [name]Dahlia[/name]'s ‘D’ beginning. [name]Marigold[/name] is spunky and cute but if the other girls don’t go by non-flower nicknames, she might be left out. I’m not a fan of [name]Daffodil[/name]. [name]Willow[/name] is a tree and it feels very different from the obviously flower names of your daughters. [name]Lavender[/name] reminds me of [name]Violet[/name] for they’re both shades of purple and I don’t really like how closely they’re connected. But I really like [name]Fleur[/name]! I think it’s in keeping with the flower theme and since you’re not downright naming her [name]Flower[/name] (I’m assuming you live in an English-speaking country. If you live in [name]France[/name] however, it becomes different) you can still get by. [name]Fleur[/name] is sweet and pretty: I think it’s perfect!

From other people’s suggestions, I really like [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Aster[/name], [name]Juniper[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Holly[/name] and [name]Marguerite[/name] with the nn [name]Daisy[/name] (much fuller and more unique but it still keeps the nickname!)
