Flower names...

I love flower names. What are your favorites? What are some more obscure ones that you would like to hear more of?

I love flower names too.

[name_f]Camellia[/name_f], [name_f]Jonquil[/name_f], [name_f]Tulip[/name_f] and Honeysuckle could be used more?

I like many mainstream ones too: [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

I’ve recently added [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] to my list. I think it’s beautiful, refreshing, and very feminine. Not sure if it counts but it means “lily.”

Others that I think are pretty are:

[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]

I wish [name_f]Tulip[/name_f] was used more often. Always found [name_f]Calla[/name_f] to be extremely cute. [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] make for awesome middles.

I like:

[name_f]Briar[/name_f]
Amaranth or [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f], which is related, or Amaranthine, which is a colour that refers to it.
[name_f]Jonquil[/name_f] - [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Jonquil[/name_f] was an idea I had… I’ll never get to use it but I really like it…
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] slightly more but [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] has a nice rolling rhythm.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] - Old-fashioned, due a comeback.
[name_f]Ixora[/name_f] - I don’t know if I’m brave enough, but I love it. It’s one of the names for flame jasmine. I’ve never heard it actually used as a name.
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Camellia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicia[/name_f] - a kind of marguerite
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
Betony
Gentian - gentian is unearthly beautiful, a really remarkable blue colour that doesn’t look real.
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] - [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] jessamine is one of my favourite flowers
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Jacaranda[/name_f] - but people will call her [name_u]Jackie[/name_u], which I don’t like, so perhaps only a middle.
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
Kalmia - mountain laurel.
[name_f]Calanthe[/name_f] - a kind of orchid
Celandine - very rare and a beautiful shade of yellow

I have a separate list of names that have floral meanings in other languages. Floral/botanical names are my absolute favourite category, lol.

I like [name_f]Jonquil[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f].

Aside from the mainstream options (I do adore [name_f]Lily[/name_f]), I’m a fan of [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], and [name_f]Camellia[/name_f].

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] isn’t technically a flower name but it sounds very floral to me and it does mean laurel tree.

I like most of the common ones too but I don’t think I could use them due to their popularity.

[name_f]Tulip/name_f, [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], Levanda (Greek version of [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]), [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]

I have [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Liliane[/name_f] and [name_f]Madelief[/name_f] on my list, if you count the variant/not so obvious ones. Other than that I love Edelweiss, [name_f]Freesia[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f], [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]/Chrysanthe, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Sakura[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f].

I’d love to hear more of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], they’re so pretty imo and not used enough where I’m from. As for more unusual flower names, I like [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Sakura[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f].

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] is also one of my ultimate favourite names.

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] are my favourites. If I had enough girls I would use them, within a sibset, despite the not-so-subtle theme, and maybe even as twins if it came to it. Calluna (the botanical name for [name_f]Heather[/name_f]) is another very rare choice, I think works really well. Both elements of the name (Call and [name_f]Luna[/name_f]) are familiar, and make a nice mix of fun, feisty, down to earth, and magical and whimsical. It makes a wonderful option for anyone who wants to honour a [name_f]Heather[/name_f] without actually using the name too. I also like [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f] (but as vee-oh-luh), [name_f]Linnaea[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Tulip[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. Plus more flower related names [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], and Wildrose.

Mainstream
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

For middle names
[name_f]Daffodil[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]

Less mainstream but probably my favorites
[name_f]Fern[/name_f] - oddly not used more
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] -should be used more
[name_f]Tulip[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]

I adore [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]/[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. For middles only I love Wildflower/Wildrose, Larkspur, Dandelion, [name_f]Tulip[/name_f], Foxglove, [name_f]Peony[/name_f] and [name_f]Daffodil[/name_f]. Sweetpea, Chamomile, Edelweiss, Honeysuckle, Marjoram and Snapdragon are the flowers I love that are more GP names.

I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!

I forgot about [name_f]Bluebelle[/name_f] , it’s beautiful!

I also like [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]/ [name_f]Jazmine[/name_f]

I really am starting to like [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Of course,I am partial to [name_f]Rose[/name_f], too.

My all time favorite flower name is [name_f]Gardenia[/name_f] with the nickname [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. I feel like the boyish nickname would make it acccesible because it fits the trend of using traditional boys names as nn for long feminine names (ex: [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_u]Alex[/name_u] for [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]/[name_u]Alexis[/name_u]).

My other favorite is Aubrietta. It isn’t an obvious flower name, rather feels like an extension of [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]. However, it is in fact the name of a beautiful, deep blue flower. I just think it has such a story book quality!

I also agree with the other users who said [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], and [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. They are such lovely names. I also love [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f], but feel like it might be hard to wear.

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Tigerlily[/name_f]? Brave or GP?

I love flower names.
like Flora, [name_f]Buttercup[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]

They are not really obscure but I’d love to hear more [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] and [name_u]Astor[/name_u]
