Follow up to Lenora/Leonora

After all of the fantastic feedback from you guys, I believe we have decided on using the name [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]. I’m now struggling with the spelling. When researching, I see that some people pronounce the following two names differently and some pronounce them exactly the same: [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]

I’m looking for the sound (LUH-[name_f]NORA[/name_f]). I do not want the extra syllable as in ([name_u]LEE[/name_u]-O-[name_f]NORA[/name_f]). What are your suggestions for spelling? I kind of like the looks of the added o, but not if it will confuse people.

Thanks in advance. I’m so impressed with how thoughtful and knowledgeable this forum has been

I think with your pronunciation [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] fits. [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] is gorgeous btw.

[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]! [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] will confuse people, a lot.

[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] would be Luh-[name_f]NOR[/name_f]-uh for me while [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] would be [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-uh-[name_f]NOR[/name_f]-uh. I adore both.

Definitely [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]. I read that as Luh-nora, then when I read [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] I read that as [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-o-nora. It’s like the name [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] - I always want to say [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-o-nard lol even thought that is leh-nurd. So [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] is easier for someone like me lol!

I would go with [name_f]Lenora[/name_f].

[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] is a gorgeous choice! I stumbled upon this name several weeks ago and I have been smitten since. We are currently thinking of it in our [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] combo ([name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]). For me, I had the same issue. I saw people pronounce [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-oh-nor-uh and FI and I really want the Luh-nora pronunciation, so we opted for [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] over [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]. I think it’s a great choice!

[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] will get you the pronouncation you want. [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] is very confusing. At the title I was saying Luh-[name_f]Nora[/name_f] vs [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-o-[name_f]Nora[/name_f].

To play devil’s advocate? I say them the same unless they are next to each other. As pp mentioned, when both spellings are written out together, it looks as if you should say them differently, but once you introduce her, most folks will figure it out. I think you can pick whichever spelling you prefer.

[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]. [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] is prn [name_u]Lee[/name_u] uh [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
