My friend and her husband are expecting their first baby soon. She is having second thoughts on their boy name and wanted some opinions and other suggestions. The name is [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]. Polite but honest opinions on [name_m]Forbes[/name_m]. Also their last name begins with an L, what about the initials FML? Another name they like is [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]. I suggested the name [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] which they like too. Suggestions are welcome. The name doesn’t have to start with an F or be a surname, but they like uncommon but still familiar names. Thanks in advance!
[name_m]Forbes[/name_m] seems a bit… financial?
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is sweet and fun.
[name_m]Foster[/name_m] could be cute, Founder is a potential fit too.
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is very handsome
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]! Also [name_m]Ford[/name_m], Fordham, [name_m]Cabot[/name_m], [name_m]Talbot[/name_m], and [name_m]Forrest[/name_m].
Unless [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] is a family name, I like [name_u]Finley[/name_u] so much more. Initials don’t really matter.
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is lovely, and I love [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]! And [name_m]Forbes[/name_m]… yeah, too financial for me too haha.
Unless [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] is legitimately a family name for them, I definitely would not use it. It would be no different than a non-Vanderbilt giving his/her child that for a first name.
But [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is an excellent name!
Thanks for all the input so far. More thoughts are welcome. Thanks so much!
I like [name_u]Finley[/name_u] nickname [name_m]Fin[/name_m]… I would not personally use FML. The connection to that phrase is too strong!! FJL works, though!
Not a fan of [name_m]Forbes[/name_m], I think the strong association with the financial side and magazine can’t be escaped.
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is adorable, so is [name_u]Flynn[/name_u].
Only caution on initials, kids are very initial oriented these days with texts and chats and FML is a very common acronym!
I’m not really a fan of [name_m]Forbes[/name_m]. The imagery is too preppy/[name_m]Wall[/name_m] St/banker to me. I love [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]. [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is nice too. [name_m]Fintan[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] would be my pick.
[name_m]Forbes[/name_m] is too financial and adult like. [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] are much better.
Definitely [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] it.
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] is nice.
Not a fan of [name_m]Forbes[/name_m].
FML is a bit iffy!
But [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is too short…
What about [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]? [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is my favourite out of her picks. [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] sounds pretentious because of the rich list.
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] is nice. I also suggested [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] and [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]. She liked the idea of [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] because his initials would start with a P, but they could call him [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. If they go with [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] they will likely go with [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] instead of [name_u]Michael[/name_u] in the middle.
I have to say that initials like those would be hard to live down once people find out. Perhaps switching it to [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] and using [name_m]Forbes[/name_m] as a nickname?
