Forrest vs Forest?!? Help!

Due in a few weeks. Me and my husband have always loved [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]. Problem is I pronounce it as “Fore-est” he says “Far-est”. [name_f]Do[/name_f] the two different spellings change the pronunciation? (Side note we were born and raised in the same place and don’t have different “accents”) Also this would be a brother to [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_m]Bryan[/name_m], do you think it fits? We wanted something different but not unheard of. Also hoping it does not gain in popularity. Our other choice was [name_m]Julian[/name_m] but I feel it’s getting too popular. Please help, hoping to decide his name soon!

Bump- help!

So I’m not sure how to explain your husband saying Far-est…I don’t think either spelling lends itself to that pronunciation. I pronounce both spellings the way you pronounce them, and that’s the only way I’ve ever heard them said.

Maybe do a search because I swear the [name_m]Forest[/name_m]/[name_m]Forrest[/name_m] debate has happened on here before. If I wanted to emphasize the nature link, I’d use [name_m]Forest[/name_m]. If I wanted more namey and less wordy, I’d use [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]; personally, I prefer [name_m]Forrest[/name_m].

As to whether the names go together…I don’t think [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_m]Brian[/name_m] really go together. This isn’t a problem–kids aren’t a matching set of golf clubs you carry around together to make a fashionable statement. But since they already don’t match, I think expecting a third name to suddenly pull them all together is difficult if not impossible. I think [name_m]Forest[/name_m] would emphasize the nature/word name aspect of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] that makes it so different from [name_m]Brian[/name_m], so I think [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] helps split the difference.

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] is nice and sounds good with [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_m]Brian[/name_m], but I prefer [name_m]Forrest[/name_m].

I agree with @primbutcher: you’ve already got assorted names, which is fine because they’ll rarely identify themselves in a list! If not [name_m]Julian[/name_m] (which makes [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] seem more classic), I’d go for [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] over [name_m]Forest[/name_m]— though I can’t help on pronunciation as not from US!

It’s definitely pronounced like the woods! I like it with a double R as I think it makes it feel more like a name.

Thank you for the insight and advice. [name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] [name_m]Langston[/name_m] sound? The middle name has family meaning but not sure if it’s too much. I appreciate the help

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Langston[/name_m] for the literary association [name_m]Langston[/name_m] [name_m]Hughes[/name_m], but I think it’s a handsome on it’s own. I quite like [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] [name_m]Langston[/name_m].

Thank you!
