We are expecting our fourth girl in a little over a month and still struggling with names.
Our daughters are [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f], [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Elyse[/name_f].
I don’t want to repeat letters C, M, or G or use a similar sound. Middle name will likely be [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as we use family names for each.
Our current favourites are [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] or [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. My worry with [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is the Southern connection with our daughter [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and potentially [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but we really love it. [name_f]Frances[/name_f] has a family connection and I love [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] for a nn but feel like the reception of the name is not very well received.
I love [name_f]Frances[/name_f]! I have for a long time. [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is so sweet and spunky! To be honest, I have a harder time accepting [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] than I would [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. I really do love [name_f]France[/name_f]'s, so I have no other suggestions for you! I think it works fantastic with the sibset.
I think either one would fit in beautifully actually! I don’t get the southern vibe of [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] with your older girls’ names and I think [name_f]Frances[/name_f] nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] on a little girl is absolutely precious. I’m not sure I could outdo your top two names but here are some suggestions:
I like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] more than [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] anyway. But I like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] for your fourth daughter because if you used [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], three girls would have an ‘uh’ ending in their names ([name_f]Maia[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]) and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] would be the only one with a different final sound.
Yeah, if you have a [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and a [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], people might think that you just really like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. It’s a shame because [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is very pretty.
Now, I may be biased (I totally am) because I don’t like the name, but I don’t think [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (or [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]) goes so well with the other three.
Hopefully I can find give you some suggestions you will like with [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as a mn. I don’t know if you would also consider [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] or any other variation? [name_f]Honor[/name_f] names can be flexible. I can include some of those just in case. It’s nice to have options, I think =]
I love [name_f]Frances[/name_f]! I know what you mean though, it seems not everyone loves it. I’m not sure why…
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]. It doesn’t sound as classy to me as your other names. What about [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] as an alternative?
Another idea would be to use [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] as a first name instead of [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as a middle. Something like [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] or [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] would be pretty. [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] is another name that I love but a lot of others don’t like or find dated. So you might not like it either.
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. Also love the other iterations, such as [name_f]Francine[/name_f] and Franscesca. Screw what family members think- they don’t have good taste!!
My first thought to go with your sibset was [name_f]Francine[/name_f], and then when I saw your interest in [name_f]Frances[/name_f] I thought [name_f]Francine[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] IS a perfect choice!
Some others you might contemplate are…
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Maia[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and
It’s a shame, but I definitely don’t care for using both [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] for sisters. So of those two, I would go with [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] – which is lovely.
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] (sounds a little similar to [name_f]Savannah[/name_f])
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is absolutely perfect! I have to agree with the others about [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] being overkill together (though it’s a really pretty name).
If [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is the name you love, I think you should go with it. I am personally more of a fan of [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] than [name_f]Frances[/name_f] despite the name universe embracing [name_f]Frances[/name_f] so passionately. To me, it still sounds harsh and clunky. I do like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] as a nickname though, and I think [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] is a really pretty name.
I really don’t think the [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] connection is problematic. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] comes first, and you have two other daughters with beautiful unrelated names. I didn’t even notice. [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] would be a stunning name!
I love the name [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and I don’t think [name_f]Frances[/name_f] really goes too well with your other names.
Some more suggestions…
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
I really like [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. Unfortunately, it would never work to have one daughter named [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and the other named [name_f]Savannah[/name_f].
Thanks for all the suggestions. I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
[name_u]Joyce[/name_u] is actually the family name we are honouring but I like [name_f]Joy[/name_f] better so am going with that for the middle.
A few of you touched my exact concerns with the ah sound as well. Overall I think [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is the prettier more widely accepted name and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is nice but maybe not so widely loved outside this site. I don’t know. More food for thought …
In my experience, people tend to be more critical of names before the child is born than after. There’s a chance that the same people who don’t like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] now will find reasons to like it if you actually decide to go with it. If you take [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] out of the equation, there’s actually a British feel to your sibset. Maybe you could explore down that path for a while?
If you like the nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], what about [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]?
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] sounds beautiful and pairs well with sisters [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Maia[/name_f], and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] better than [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. [name_f]Frances[/name_f] sounds a little masculine to me, but I think boyish nicknames - like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] - are cute! If you named her [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], you could still have the boyish nickname and give her a name that’s a little more feminine.
