I have posted several threads in the last couple weeks…my husband and I are struggling with our upcoming daughter’s name. We like the name [name_m]Fox[/name_m] for a girl. What are your thoughts?
I’m thinking Fox Eugenie.
I don’t mind it. Personally I’d put it in the middle eg. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m].
Sorry but I don’t like [name_m]Fox[/name_m] at all for a girl. It’s a nature name so it technically is unisex but it just feels so very masculine. I suppose as a mn it wouldn’t be bad. But overall it does feel tawdry to me for a girl and it wouldn’t age well at all imo. What about [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_f]Lux[/name_f], [name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Nyx[/name_f], [name_u]Rue[/name_u], [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], [name_f]Jade[/name_f]…?
I was going to say no, but [name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] is an undeniably lovely combo!
However, [name_m]Fox[/name_m] doesn’t have great connotations for a girl to me - I’m thinking “foxy lady”, that kind of thing. It does feel a bit… off for a baby girl for that reason.
[name_f]Nyx[/name_f] and [name_f]Lux[/name_f] are great suggestions with a similar sound, or how about [name_u]Pax[/name_u] (peace), Nox (night) or Vox (voice)?
Hmm, [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]'s lovely but I just hear “silver fox” here… as in, an attractive older man.
Maybe [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] or [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]?
[name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] is such a pretty name! Wouldn’t it be better to have [name_m]Fox[/name_m] as a middle name and optionally call her by her middle name? What about [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]?
I think [name_m]Fox[/name_m] is usable for a girl
I don’t like a [name_m]Fox[/name_m] for a girl at all. [name_m]Even[/name_m] in the middle spot.
[name_m]Fox[/name_m] isn’t too masculine imo and I agree it’d be a super cool middle name but that the associations don’t make it ideal in the first name spot… I love the suggestions both of [name_f]Lux[/name_f]/[name_f]Nyx[/name_f]/Nox and of naming her [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and calling her by her middle name.
It’s quite well known as a boys’ name right now so I feel like she’d have a hard time wearing it as her first name.
Out of all the previous posters’ ideas my favorite is to name her [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and call her [name_m]Fox[/name_m], that’d be such a wonderful name
I think [name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] is absolutely stunning! Personally, I’d more likely put [name_m]Fox[/name_m] in the middle spot but I definitely think it could work. As pp suggested, using [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] “[name_m]Fox[/name_m]” might be a safer - and equally stunning - option.
Of course you can use [name_m]Fox[/name_m] for a girl! However, I would think about the “foxy lady”/“she’s a fox” sort of connotations.
I automatically think of Foxface from Hunger games so it feels feminine to me!
The only [name_m]Fox[/name_m] I actually know in real life is a girl, who would be around 16 now I think, and she always pulled off the name amazingly. I think it’s one of those names that comes across as quite popular on Nameberry, but is still rarely used in the first name spot in real life, so could be used on any gender.
While [name_m]Fox[/name_m] isn’t my personal taste on a girl, I think [name_m]Fox[/name_m] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] is a really cool and striking combo, and if little [name_m]Fox[/name_m] doesn’t like her name, she has a very girly middle to fall back on.
Thank you for your feedback! I just love the combo.
I’m thinking
[name_u]Fox[/name_u] Evermore
[name_u]Fox[/name_u] [name_u]Everest[/name_u]
[name_u]Fox[/name_u] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]
Someone I know named her daughter [name_u]Fox[/name_u]. She’s 22 now, and she never hated her name or even faced criticism in society because she was taught to love it. And people learned to live with it.
I want to like it but for me it reminds me of [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_u]Fox[/name_u], which may/may not be a bad thing.
NMS in general, especially on a girl. Very out-there & GP territory if you ask me.
I’m sorry if this came off as too harsh!
This post is really old, guys. I got confused too at first but it’s from 2018.
I think Foxie would be cute
