Foxy as a nn?

Before our daughter was even concieved, I’ve always wanted to name a son [name]Henry[/name], after my Grandfather. We were very close, I am his oldest Granddaughter, and this would have been his first Great-grandson.

We are TTC #2, and if it is a boy, I still love the name [name]Henry[/name]. However it is much higher on the popularity list than I feel comfortable with. I’ve been trying to think of middle name/nickname ideas, and [name]Henry[/name] [name]Fox[/name] popped into my head.

What do you think of a boy called [name]Foxy[/name] as a nn? I am not married to the idea, just testing it out, so please be free with your opinions/impressions.

Thank you!!!

I’m sorry but when I hear [name]Foxy[/name] I think of the phrase “Look at that foxy lady” or something to that extent. The phrase seems outdated, but it will probably raise some eyebrows as in that context foxy is akin to saying sexy or something to that extent.

[name]Foxy[/name] is commonly used as a synonym for sexy, in reference to a woman. It’s not as commonly used anymore but it is still pretty widely known. I would not use this for a child’s nickname, boy or girl.

What about just [name]Fox[/name]? or you could use [name]Harry[/name] as a nickname for [name]Henry[/name]

I like [name]Fox[/name] as a middle name and I think [name]Henry[/name] [name]Fox[/name] sounds handsome. I would avoid using [name]Foxy[/name] though for the same reasons mentioned above.

sigh well, okay. I was aware of the “foxy” connotation, but throught it was so dated that people would just think of the animal instead, like “Wolfie” or “[name]Bear[/name]” which both seem to be acceptable boys names/nn’s.

Thanks for the honest feedback!

Not appropriate.

Henry Fox is great though.

Yeah, I agree with the other posters that “foxy” is a hot lady, not a man, in any way.

I do like [name]Fox[/name] as a name, tho, and I think [name]Henry[/name] [name]Fox[/name] is really nice.
