I’m eager to hear your veiws on the two names [name]Francine[/name] or [name]Frances[/name]. My name is [name]Frances[/name] [name]Irene[/name] and my nn is [name]Frankie[/name]. [name]Frankie[/name] is ok, but I hate the name [name]Frances[/name]. My name [name]Frances[/name] has always been made fun of. The kids would call me old man or [name]Frank[/name] the Skan…(you know the rest).
My parents named me after my Grandfather [name]Frank[/name] [name]Ivan[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]. If they had to do that, I always wished they would have used something much prettier/cuter like [name]Francine[/name] or [name]Francie[/name], [name]Frannie[/name] or [name]Fanya[/name]. They would not have used [name]Francesca[/name] which is somewhat nicer, however we are not italian or latino. We are from a very [name]German[/name]/French/Irish decent. I am seriously thinking of changing my name, but as not to hurt my family want to keep it similar. I’ve always loved the name [name]Francine[/name] or [name]Francie[/name]. There were several girls with the name [name]Francine[/name] thoughout my circle of schools, friends and activities who never got made fun of or teased. I am getting ready to enter the adult/college world next year and want to start fresh. I want to change it to [name]Francine[/name] or [name]Francie[/name] legally. What are your thoughts? Also, any ideas of an “I” name for a mn? I also hate [name]Irene[/name]. Thanks!
I actually prefer [name]Frances[/name] -> it reminds me of [name]Baby[/name] from Dirty Dancing . Maybe a little naive but good hearted, sincere, honest and intelligent. To me [name]Francine[/name] feels a little too sacrine sweet -> almost like the name is trying too hard for what it is.
I actually love [name]Irene[/name]. It’s my mom’s name and I’m sure you know it means [name]Peace[/name]. My mom however HATES the way it’s pronounced in [name]America[/name] (She’s originally [name]German[/name]) and has taken to forcing her friends to try to pronounce it properly. So she get’s I-rena, Eh-[name]Ree[/name]-na ect a lot. The pronunciation she’d like is closest to ee-RE-nu. Maybe just switching up how you pronounce it might make you like it more. Otherwise, [name]Ismene[/name], [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Isla[/name], [name]Isabel[/name]/la, [name]Isadora[/name] might help you figure out a direction you prefer.
Oh I just love [name]Frances[/name].
[name]Frances[/name], hands down. However, you could easily go by [name]Francie[/name] or even [name]Francine[/name] without legally changing your name. [name]Francine[/name] could just be seen as a smoosh nn for [name]Frances[/name] [name]Irene[/name]. I also really love [name]Irene[/name].
I really love the name [name]Francine[/name] and it has been the topic of conversation in my household lately. It is a family name and we are discussing the use of it or it’s form in our little daughter’s name. I think [name]Francine[/name] has a pretty, frilly sound to it and reminds me of a very girly girl. However, to me [name]Frances[/name] has a soft, royal sound. I’m sad that you have had bad experiences with the name [name]Frances[/name]. Maybe people were just jealous of your name. I hope you decide to keep it, but if you do change it to [name]Francine[/name] that will be Beautiful too!
In my opinion [name]Francine[/name] would be the way to go. I never liked [name]Francis[/name] either and the nn [name]Frankie[/name] is so out of the question in my family. My name is [name]Francine[/name] and the name has been given in some way for generations to girls on my father’s side of my family. I am so glad that my parents gave me [name]Francine[/name] instead of the other choices and at the front spot. It has been a valuable asset to me throughout my life. My daughters will all have that name placed in their name lineup. I was even told once that my job application was chosen for an interview because of my first name! I know that sounds a little bias but they told me, that after meeting me in the interview I lived up to the name, and got the job! A little proof that it’s all in the name!
I like [name]Frances[/name]. Also, older generational names such as [name]Frances[/name] are becoming popular. Rather than going through the trouble of legally changing your name, have you considered just being creative with your current name? Go by a NN, people do all the time.
Franie, [name]Fran[/name] or from [name]Irene[/name], [name]Ren[/name], [name]Ira[/name]
You could create something different without losing who YOU are. [name]Just[/name] a thought.
I like [name]Frances[/name]! I can see it coming back into style. You can definitely go by [name]Francie[/name] without going though the bother of legally changing your name. Or continue to call yourself [name]Frankie[/name]. [name]Francine[/name] is fine, but [name]Frances[/name] is more classic and mature sounding.
I also have to say that I really like [name]Irene[/name]! It makes me think of [name]Irene[/name] [name]Adler[/name] from a [name]Sherlock[/name] [name]Holmes[/name] story. She’s such an independent and alluring character (and she’s played by the beautiful [name]Rachel[/name] McAdams in the film!).
I love the name [name]Francine[/name] as well. I would say after the experiences you’ve had with the name [name]Frances[/name] I don’t blame you. You are the one who lived it, so you are the only one that knows how bad the name made you suffer. I have two Aunt [name]Frances[/name]’ who are in their 70’s - 80’s and so I accociate the name [name]Frances[/name] with old age. [name]Francine[/name] sounds fresh and young as well as girly. I will probably be using this name in the future. I think if you do decide to change your name, [name]Francine[/name] or [name]Francie[/name] are the way to go, even if it’s not done legally. You will start to feel good about yourself. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
I think you could easily start using [name]Francie[/name] as a nickname without going through the legal hassle…but if you hate [name]Frances[/name] that much (I actually prefer it a bit over [name]Francine[/name], but I do like both) go ahead and change it to [name]Francine[/name].

Oh my favorite name is [name]Francine[/name]! I hope you choose it. I’ve always liked the “F” names, they are so soft, stylish and comfy! I like [name]Faye[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Fantasia[/name], or [name]Faustina[/name] too. However, [name]Francine[/name] is so enchanting. I can understand if you don’t like your name that you have the right to change it. Especially if you had bad experiences. [name]Francine[/name] is such an elegant name and I wish you every happiness!
Well [name]Frances[/name] [name]Irene[/name], depending when you grew up, it could be a rather plain name and a boyish nn, [name]Frankie[/name] could have added to your turmoil. After all that, you might have earned the chance to change it to something more feminine and frilly. I know how you feel, because my name, [name]Fay[/name] is so utterly plain. I have thought of changing my name for years, but have to find something worthy of keeping. Choosing [name]Fanya[/name], [name]Francie[/name] or [name]Francine[/name] would be a good move, but please, try it out first before you legalize it.
I like both [name]Frances[/name] and [name]Irene[/name] and agree with the above suggestion that you could go by [name]Francine[/name] without changing your name. A really cool nn is [name]France[/name]-- it fits right in with the place names that are popular now. You could use [name]Rena[/name] or something like this as a nn too.
I agree that college is a great place to try out a new name without legally changing it. I vastly prefer [name]Frances[/name] (soft, vintage, spunky) over [name]Francine[/name] (which to me seems nasally and frilly). I would try a different nickname: [name]Faye[/name], [name]Annie[/name] or [name]Anne[/name], [name]France[/name], [name]Francie[/name], [name]Rena[/name]. Or you could test run [name]Francine[/name] if you prefer it; [name]Frances[/name] [name]Irene[/name] slurs together into [name]Franc[/name]-ene, so I don’t think it’d be a weird jump that you could point out if anyone asks.
